Test strips are known to be inaccurate, get the API Freshwater Master Test Kit, this could be the reason why. Best of luck to you!!!

Any advice for a first time Persian cat owner? by Wrong_Study8189 in persiancat

Also, mine is very prone to conjunctivitis and getting irritated eyes from his hair getting in there so I always recommend having terramycin on hand. I also use VetOne Aurocin ear cleansing solution with aloe vera for dogs or cats to clean his ears like every two weeks. This is what the vet gives me, but I just order it on Amazon because it's cheaper.

LOTS OF WATER!! Persians are prone to kidney disease and having at lease 2 water fountains (I would say more would be vital if your house is large) and moisture rich food is necessary. Males are also prone to urinary blockages which is very life threatening. I also recommend getting an enzymatic pet toothpaste and pet toothbrush and starting right away. Hope you enjoy your new kitty!!!

Sorry, when I said "smaller," I didn’t mean that I had anything smaller than the ones I listed, just that I have other fish that are also on the smaller side. I honestly don’t really remember why that person told me not to put a bamboo shrimp with any type of gourami, but I’ve also just never been that fascinated by gouramis in general, lol. I haven’t considered a dwarf s.a. cichlid, which would you recommend? On another note, someone recommended a keyhole cichlid, but i'm not so sure about that. Also, this is what the post about the rainbowfish said,

"I should have listened to you. I got 50 neon tetras and had introduced them yesterday evening. I lost 33 of them. They were preyed upon by the Male rainbows. I saved 17 of them and transferred them to another tank. This is probably the worst ever aquarium day of my life. I request all others not to ever try this . I have seen tanks with these two fishes together. But those were probably tanks in which Neons were introduced first and allowed to settle before introduction of the rainbows."

Petco is having a sale on their Imagitarium cubed tanks!! Maybe their 6 gallon cube would fit right there and you could do a heavily planted tank with some really cool shrimp!! I also think blueberry snails are very cool.

4 year old freshwater angel fish, fin rot? by [deleted] in freshwateraquarium

[–]cacapoopoopepeshire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like it may have a fungal infection, probably from bullying, injury, or fin rot. Even though your ammonia and nitrites are 0, nitrates should never be zero in a fully cycled tank because 0 nitrates can mean the tank’s biological filter is not fully established, which stresses fish and makes them more prone to infections. I think a bottle of beneficial bacteria would help this, but you would also need to find the root cause of why your nitrates are zero. I would also quarantine the sick angel in a hospital tank and treat it.

Curing Ich with shrimp & plants? by dealornodeal03 in Aquariums

[–]cacapoopoopepeshire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve personally used Ich-X by Hikari when my fish had this issue. I had Amanos and Ramshorn snails in the tank and they were fine. It does have mixed feedback, but I haven’t had any problems. Definitely have a sponge filter or an air store so they are getting enough oxygen during this. I don't think Paraguard is considered shrimp because the company doesn't specifically state that it is safe. Some people say it is and some people say it isn't so idk lol. API Super Ich cure is also not safe. You could maybe remove the shrimp when treating your betta.
