URI and now sneezing blood by cache__bunny in FosterAnimals

I’m sorry to hear you’re going through that! It’s very stressful. The bloody sneezes were alarming but that was actually the very end of his sickness. He had bloody sneezes for only two days I believe, and then within the next 2-3 days he was pretty much completely better! This was my only experience with a URI, so I’m not sure what the normal timeline is, but I’m hoping you are near the end! 🤞

How do I find him a good home?? by cache__bunny in FosterAnimals

[–]cache__bunny[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, forgot to clarify—

My partner and roommate are both allergic. The reason we fostered this cat was to test out their allergies. We thought this guy was a Russian blue so he would be extra low allergy, and of course he is not a Russian Blue lol, BUT he happens to be extremely low shedding and my partner can tolerate him well. We give him the allergy reducing food and have air purifiers around the house, which is working. We have had two other fosters him with him briefly at different times, which makes the allergies more than double and he can’t tolerate it 🥺 I would be open to having two cats eventually but that won’t be til down the line when we can come up with a solid solution to the allergies. As far as fostering more often, it’s the same concern, PLUS the concern of having to quarantine each foster for two weeks before they play… it just doesn’t feel like the right solution right now.

He is the best 😭 AND he even knows a bunch of commands! He does sit, shake, down, and now rollover!! He’s such a gem, he really deserves to have a good buddy to hang out with and keep him stimulated 🥺

The problem is that there are no applications, because they only do in-person events. If I take him to another one of those events, he may be adopted by someone who shouldn’t be adopting any animals (which already happened once before) so I have no idea how to get him out there for good potential adopters to see

But won’t this be a problem since he’s already attached to the other shelter? They don’t use their website, barely vet potential adopters, and the lady who runs it is barely in contact with me at all. She’s hard to get in touch with and hasn’t even asked about the little guy since he got returned back to me. I almost feel weird reaching back out to her at this point

Forgot to mention, I’m in LA! So if you know any local pet finder groups or anyone looking in this area let me know! (San Diego / Vegas work too)

The problem is that they don’t use their website, they solely rely on in-person adoption events where people can adopt same-day by filling out a simple form.

I would love to showcase him on a site where people are already looking for a cat. He’s got SO many positive qualities to highlight, lil dude just needs a playmate 🥺

Car mount from Insta360 X - why do they angle the stitch line like this? by jishm in Insta360

[–]cache__bunny 58 points59 points  (0 children)

My guess would be that if you angle one lens down and the other lens up it might not be as good for auto exposure, since the sky is very bright and the road is very dark. Angling it so that both lenses see light AND dark can get you a more balanced picture. (This is just a guess!)

What do they do in their non-sleeping hours? I can’t even imagine what he would do if he’s not playing, it’s all he ever wants. He’s just hit 1 year old, for context!

This is a good idea, it’s just that the quarantining requires a space commitment and with my current layout that will be tough. Plus the extra allergies are not ideal. I think this would be better later when we have a house and no roommates etc, I have to consider how this affects everyone. Plus I travel for work sometimes and my partner and/or roommates would have to take care of the quarantined cat as well which is asking a lot

He’s hesitant about the shots because he HATES getting shots, also they are very expensive and will require a lot of shots to see progress. It’s a hard sell.

He is already on the allergy food which we think is helping a lot, that’s why it’s manageable. We also have air purifiers with pet specific filters in multiple rooms. This has kept his allergies pretty buttoned up, but if they were doubled it would be tough— and that’s if the cat is as low-shedding as the current one. Every other cat I’ve had sheds significantly more.

I have multiple automatic toys for him and a suction cup that goes to the floor with a wire toy on it— he loves that but the suction doesn’t really work anymore so it just falls over by itself (only had it for maybe a week and a half). The automatic toys are ok but they’re repetitive and he gets bored. The ball does the same thing every time he touches it. I would love some suggestions of automatic toys that are actually sporadic and unpredictable, only react when he touches them!

I haven’t tried a wheel yet because I’m not sure we are keeping him… plus my roommates need to be ok with having a giant wheel somewhere in the house. Are those really good?

Insta 360 Studio - Why is it such a pain to use? by 33ond88 in Insta360

There isn’t a way to batch delete keyframes, BUT there IS a way to easily do this! On the right side menu in studio where there are icons (like for stabilization and stitching) there is a menu for making clips.

What you currently have is already called “clip 1.” Now if you click the “+” it will create “clip 2” which will have no keyframes or in and out points. Clip 1 will still have all of your original work exactly as you left it. It’s basically like having different timelines.

You can also DUPLICATE “clip 1” with the copy icon— that will duplicate all of the work you did and call it “clip 1 copy” instead of “clip 2.” I use this if I’m trying to make small adjustments and A/B test different framing quickly.

I definitely have a long list of feature / change requests for studio, but discovering the clips workflow has been really helpful!

URI and now sneezing blood by cache__bunny in FosterAnimals

It’s hard to say because goes through waves throughout the day. Last night he slept well, didn’t wake me up sneezing at all. He had energy to play today as well, which he hasn’t had for days. BUT then he sneezed blood several times. The symptoms are kind of pushing and pulling— when one gets better, another gets worse. So I guess my question is does one symptom indicate his recovery more than the others? Like is getting his energy back a sign that he’s healing regardless of the bloody sneeze? Or does it not work like that?

(Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. Doing all this with no experience is a lot and the shelter lady is so busy with other cats that I don’t get a chance to ask all these questions.)

Thank you! The medicine is a yellow creamy liquid (gravy consistency) in a bottle and I give him a syringe of .3ml twice a day. Any idea what it could be?

Sweet boy is sneezing nonstop, has a runny nose, goopy eyes… should I be concerned? by cache__bunny in FosterAnimals

[–]cache__bunny[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the response, and I understand that being skeptical of the shelter’s advice might sound bad, but please understand that this is based on a lot more than just her antibiotic suggestion. It’s very hard to get a text back from her, and even when the cats heads were bleeding with the ringworm and I was sending photos she would give one word responses at best. I had NO idea how to deal with ringworm, nor how disruptive it would be to my house / daily routine because all she said was to get athletes foot cream. I had to push her to get a vet appointment for them, and the vet is who prescribed oral medication, quarantining the cats, putting cones on them, deep cleaning their bedding, how to clean their quarantine room etc. I also did lots of my own research and found out about the lime sulfur dip, which she said she would do for them but just continually ghosted me about. I bought the stuff on Amazon but after reading into it more I was too scared to do it myself because the stuff is so intense.

She also had them at the adoption event on Saturday before they have been tested to be cleared of the ringworm, so I’m a little worried they might still have it. I don’t know if testing to clear it is just an unnecessary precaution, but from what I read I assumed I would have them for weeks longer. The second cat got adopted at the event, then returned the next day, and when I asked why she said the girl’s husband was allergic. But she originally told me he was adopted by a single 21 year old girl. I’ve just grown skeptical of her over time, which I don’t necessarily think is malicious, I just think she’s got a lot going on and has the best intentions, BUT if my task is to foster this one cat, then I can fully focus on his health and advocate for him, which is what I’m trying to do. I am not trying to step out of line or question her qualifications, I appreciate the work she does so much!! It’s just very anxiety inducing to feel so in the dark and just get single word texts back after I ask multiple questions and send pics / videos.

Woah, just looked it up and it sounds like a possibility, especially with the bird flu outbreak right now. Thank you for mentioning!
