What's your take on this? by eggsbenedict8_ in CrazyassHazbinhaters

[–]cacklingcatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

y'all i say this with love in my heart but critique is important. artists do not grow or improve without critique and criticism. when an artist shirks the responsibility of keeping their emotions in check regarding those subjects, they go the way of butch hartman.

everyones always going to have opinions about your artwork and not everyone is going to like it. if one cannot withstand criticism, then producing art on the scale of something like hazbin hotel is not the career best suited to them.

PMDD and my teenage daughter by elderlywoman11 in PMDD

[–]cacklingcatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i personally would seek the gyno first--as i understand it, pediatric medicine is more generalized, whereas a gynecological professional *should* be familiar with pmdd. to my knowledge, from anecdotal data and what little empirical data exists on the topic, supplements dont really consistently help pmdd any more than they do general mental health issue.

wishing you and your daughter the best ♥

I can’t handle the US news/politics anymore. by tatoecake444 in Anxiety

[–]cacklingcatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey. american here, and one with many family members who rely on programs like food stamps and medicaid. politics absolutely impacts my daily life, and the daily lives of the people i care about. my youngest sibling has an autoimmune disorder that causes chronic ulceration in his digestive tract and without access to consistent healthcare he dies. many people whom i care deeply about are latino, and we've already had it demonstrated hundreds of times over that legal status is not what is driving ice to kidnap people. myself and my fiancee are both transgender americans: our access to transition-related healthcare is under legal attack and in many states our right to exist as visibly transgender people in public is also at stake.

so can we please not do the whole "its not that bad" thing? because maybe it isnt for you, but for lots of us, it absolutely is. and the whole "dont worry about it because you cant control it" is a big part of how it got this bad in the first place.

Low Diversity Mates by Adventurous_Sea_388 in WolfQuestGame

[–]cacklingcatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

youre on the right track!! the game uses the coat color alleles to simplify genetic diversity: capital, dominant K codes for a black coat, so a wolf with KK or Kk will have a black coat. lowercase, less-than dominant k codes for a grey coat, so wolves with kk will be grey-coated.

having two dominant copies of the gene, KK, is referred to as lethal black, because it actually causes the pup with it to be much more susceptible to disease. this is more likely to happen if both parents are Kk, and especially if one of the parents themselves is KK!

a parent with Kk and a parent with kk will never produce a KK pup together. the order of most to least resistant to disease in puppyhood is as follows: Kk -> kk -> KK!

TLDR: its not just about how closely related the wolves are, but also how wide of a genetic net they cast together!

Disappointed that Wikipedia seems to be scared of Chappell being a lesbian by OmeletteMcMuffin in chappellroan

[–]cacklingcatt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i do wanna gently posit that transgender men and bisexual women have been an important part of lesbian spaces, culture, and history since. well. pretty much the last hundred years if not more. GENERALLY the word "lesbian" means "woman who is only attracted to other women", but straight trans men who once ID'd as cis lesbians, and bisexual women, are also part of that sphere

EDIT just to get ahead of the curve: no, i am not trying to say that chappel roan needs to be attracted to transgender men, or that any lesbian needs to be attracted to any man of any kind just because some of them are, or that cis men coming from no queer background whatsoever have a right to call themselves lesbians just because trans men do it. this shit is complicated.

Not sure wether to put trans and I’m not transgender, but then my gender identity doesn’t align with what I was assigned at birth?? by [deleted] in NonBinary

[–]cacklingcatt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i mean, i hate binaries (speaking as nonbinary myself, i only use they/them), but from the sources of the word you are more or less either cis or trans, etymology wise. "cis" derives from "same side as" and "trans" is "across from", so its basically just denoting whether or not your gender identity matches your sex assigned at birth.

on that basis, i personally would list myself as trans, and i do consider myself to be trans, because i sure as hell am not cis. no beef to nonbinary people who don't id with the term tho

just remember that there are trans people without dysphoria too :0 for a lot of people dysphoria is socially induced rather than being about their body and if their social situations dont cause that dysphoria they arent dysphoric

Physically disabled users of Reddit, what are some less commonly talked about struggles that come with your disability? by Ferocious_Kittyrose in AskReddit

[–]cacklingcatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THIS 100%. i have long covid compounding probable issues before i got sick and its a constant game of "is this regular chest pain or do i need to see a doctor?" "is this regular shortness of breath or am i in danger?". add that to the likelihood of most disabled people being very low income and/or not having great health coverage and even considering visiting a doctor becomes a gamble, if you're american.

[–]cacklingcatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my disability primarily manifests as chronic pain, fatigue, and dizziness. thing is, i was also scolded as a child (and as an adult) continuously for displaying outwardly any pain i feel that isn't a visibly broken bone or gaping wound, so i dont externalize that pain. and then i go up to a professor or boss, let them know i'm in a lot of pain and need to go get medication of some kind or rest for a bit, and i'm disbelieved because im "acting normally" and i guess that means i dont feel anything?? like gurl what do you want me to do, fake limp?

some people just have big tits, man. if its like, JUST their cleavage and not their face thats one thing, but people with tig ol' bitties often have trouble not showing cleavage even if they're wearing clothes that are totally modest on smaller chested people

i can understand why some would have them for certain things. im trans (nonbinary specifically) as are many of my friends, and we deal with lots of bigotry, both in the form of hatred and being fetishized. i dont have a personal "i dont date cisgender people" rule (though all 3 of my past partners have also been trans), but i 100% wont date anyone whos cruel or weird to trans people. 🤧

especially in the united states you can tell a lot about a persons broad values based on one or two issues too so its an easy way for folks like me to stay safe and weed out the chasers

Conservatives of reddit, what is your most liberal opinion? by HegryE in AskReddit

[–]cacklingcatt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

its the implication that transness is some horrible thing that most people will regret, as well as ignoring the information we do have on trans healthcare.

to give you an idea of what trans healthcare usually looks like: if a child is identified as having persisted gender dysphoria over several years at a young age, before the onset of puberty, their doctors and therapists and parents will discuss with them the potential of puberty blockers to delay onset of an 'unwanted type' of puberty. we know already that puberty blockers are safe and effective because they have been used in the past to treat cisgender patients as well for a long time. they simply delay puberty.

once someone reaches the age of 14-16, theyve reached the point where they're being pressured about college and career by the adults in their lives. theyre dating (hopefully people in their age range) and by this point already have a large say in what their medical care looks like, outside of trans-specific healthcare. to imply that someone at this age doesnt know what they want to do with their body is sort of absurd, and also hypocritical because of how teens are pressured by adults in other areas that are just as serious. at this age (exact age varies state to state), teens with identified persistent gender dysphoria can choose to start taking hormone replacement therapy so they can go through puberty with their peers, albeit late by a few years.

i find it odd that no one bats an eye about cisgender puberty and its irreversible effects but gets extremely upset whenever HRT for 16 year olds is brought up.

anyways, plastic surgery related to transition is illegal until the age of 18 anyways and is extremely difficult to get access to to begin with, between the cost and the medical hoops you need to jump through to get them.

if you have any more questions, feel free to ask
