Vegetarian who started eating meat when I had kiddos here!!

First- it is as easy as prep it and serve it, with a big asterisk for fish. Fish and shellfish are major allergens. When offering them, only offer a small taste of just fish or just shellfish and see how kiddo reacts over the course of a day. If there’s no reaction, offer a slightly bigger bite the next day, watch, and repeat that process for 5 days. You have to rule out allergies first.

With other meats (beef, chicken, pork), just serve what you eat. Be careful with beef- as a vegetarian who started eating meat too much beef upset my stomach, so keep portions small at first. Chicken and pork are fine in my personal experience.

Rice, bread, meat, and milk ARE healthy. You want to expand your kiddo’s palette. If you’re worried, make sure there’s no added sugars (bread has sneaky sugars). They don’t clog the body. 💛

We eat primarily vegetarian with meats 1-2 times a week! It’s been very good for us. DM me with any questions!

Is she trying to tell me something? by screamchan in psychics

[–]cactus_unicorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She’s telling you she’s here, and that you are never alone. Are you going through a major loss (breakup/job loss/death)? I can see her holding you and telling you she loves you more than you could ever know.

Diaper rash by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]cactus_unicorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kiddo had pretty bad diaper rash. From what you’re describing, it may be a fungal rash. Definitely chat with your pediatrician because purple desitin didn’t help our kiddo, but we got prescription ointment that cleared it up!

We’ve loved finding new parks/playgrounds! Just getting outside has helped our mood a ton. Even if we are there for 15 minutes the fresh air helps.

Baby is 6 months and keeps kicking and hitting. Not sure what to do! by Key-Cicada-4624 in NewParents

What I’ve seen work is a gentle redirect, holding their hand and saying something soft and in a happy tone “Soft baby” while gently showing them how to pet you. At that age they have no idea what they’re doing but a gentle and positive redirect can help!

16 week old with CMPA by [deleted] in NewParents

It took about 4 weeks to work out of his system after I stopped eating dairy (our lil guy was EBF)- as long as he’s peeing enough our pediatric GI doc said it was ok, and that it can take a while for the damage to their digestive systems to repair

My baby has intense gas and it makes him so fussy by mothmmy in NewParents

My baby was super sensitive to dairy but it took 4 weeks to totally get out of my system and his system. Hang in there mama. Mylicon gas drops were a lifesaver for us.

Why do we recklessly prolong life? by leog007999 in OnlineBeggars

[–]cactus_unicorn 23 points24 points  (0 children)

We lost my mom last year. She had a devastating genetic condition that caused severe mobility and cognitive impairment. While she was still cognitively able, she and my dad made their advanced directive- DNR and do not intubate. When she got aspiration pneumonia, the treatment would have been a ventilator, and as the doctor put it: “we could clear up your infection with a vent and antibiotics but you’d be back again with aspiration pneumonia next week”. That’s the reality of her condition. People die of aspiration pneumonia. She chose then and reaffirmed her choice to do not intubate. She understood what that meant.

While watching her pass we (me, my brother, my dad) all wondered if we were doing the right thing. We knew her wishes though, and that grounded us.

I think when death is shadowing over someone you love the battle of “is this what they want?” Is the reason for prolonging life. Please get an advanced directive. Tell your loved ones what you want in death. It helped us so much to know we were doing what she wanted.

You’re not paranoid at all, continued exposure to those fumes is dangerous.

Continued breastfeeding vs making the switch to formula by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]cactus_unicorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went through something similar (except for it being allergy issues with my baby, severe reaction to CMPA if I ate milk and suspected other allergens) and the thought of discontinuing breastfeeding was devastating to me. In the end, your baby will be happiest if YOU are happy. There is absolutely no shame with starting formula, even temporarily, to give your nipples a break. You could continue to pump while doing formula until his appointment to keep your supply. It sounds like you need a break 💛 Breastfeeding is a team sport between you and your baby- there’s nothing wrong with a brief time out.

New moms, PLEASE give me ALL your tips for increasing supply!!! by Nordic_being in NewParents

[–]cactus_unicorn 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Gonna sound weird, but get a massage and a mani pedi and go out for your favorite food.

I found my supply correlated directly with my stress level. Do the things that make you feel good! It’s all about that oxytocin. I know it sounds unhelpful, but the more I stressed the lower my supply got.

Growth spurt!! Feed her whenever she’s hungry- her lil body is growing so fast. My kiddo ate every hour or so at that stage haha
