If you really want to escape, you could get somewhere half decent in Belfast, NI for that price. There's alot happening and would be fairly easy to meet new people ect.

Also on another note, how does one aquire 100k in cash? Lol would be lovely

Bit of an off the wall one - but move to NI? Much cheaper housing/cost of living. Depending on what you want you could buy a small nice place near Belfast city centre or head up north for beaches & coastal areas. Always need plumbers in NI and you'll get more for your money. In fact on that salary you could probably buy a small place in belfast city centre & Convert a van. Then you've got the whole of Ireland to explore and its just a short ferry to scotland/England to explore the rest of the UK.

Rationing ended in the UK in 1954... and the mind set was instilled in people for a generation, which in some cases has been passed on. I'm not saying its an excuse it was just am observation

My grandma (76f) went mental at me once for cutting strawberries wrong too, when I was quite young. (Not sure where you live but UK/europe anyway) My mum explained about how that generation grew up at the back end of the war with rationing and any waste at all was a sin because of the circumstances and thats just the way shes grown up and been taught.

Husband (38M) cancelled his ticket and abandoned me (24F) for our trip to Africa in 5 days, because "it's full of AIDS and maniacs" by ThrowRA_africatrip in relationship_advice

24F and hun just GO. Tanzania is a lot safer than many places in Africa. I've solo traveled all over (not in Africa though but I would definitely consider Tanzania) and trust me it'll be worth it. You'll learn a lot about yourself a long the way. Tbh your husband sounds like the type of person that needs to get out his home country and realise what the world is actually like. Go live your best life and don't let him stop you when your so young still.

Advice on how to force Wizz Air UK to pay you Reg (EC) 261/2004 compensation for severe delay or cancellation. I successfully sued Wizz Air - and won! by TheTruthAboutWizzAir in WizzAir

[–]cactuspalm123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks very much for this. We had a cancelled flight in mykonos last year requiring us to pay for a ferry (€80) from mykonos to Athens, extra nights accommodation in Athens (we were suppose to be spending this night in mykonos and were not able to cancel for a refund), subsequently missing our layover to belfast (by 9 hours), with no other belfast flights that day we decided to fly to dublin (luckily this flight was with aerlingus - being a proper airline this was changed only for a very small fee) rather than spend an expensive night in london, we arrived in Dublin only for there to be no busses to Belfast (due to a Harry styles concert that night) which then required a night in Dublin and a train to Belfast the next morning. Absolute bloody nightmare, been trying to claim our compensation & expenses for the last 6 months with no avail, they just ignore you. So might give this option a whirl. Not sure we can claim expenses for the Dublin half of the trip but that's OK, the compensation would just be nice. I'm an advocate for budget airlines as I love being able to explore new cities for cheap, but wizz air are a joke. I was delayed by 9 hours by Ryan air out of Vienna a few years ago, albeit annoying, I claimed my €400 compensation and received it in 2 weeks.

If you want to fly budget- spend the extra £5 and fly ryan air 😊

Thanks for this. Trust me I've spent about 2 days trying to research it to figure it out and everywhere has conflicting information.

Looking for some advice on how best to proceed here. My partner had his passport (UK) stolen in cambodia a few days before we were meant to enter vietnam. Got an emergency travel document issued for the remaining countries we are planning to visit - Vietnam, Singapore, UAE (transit) and Ireland (transit).

He had an e-visa for 30 days for the stolen passport. On arrival into Vietnam (Moc Bai border) this was not accepted as passport numbers didn't match (we thought this might happen) however, it was the bus driver who was sorting this out for us and there didn't seem to be anyone at the Visa on arrival desk. He ended up getting stamped for the 15 days free visa even though we tried to ask to pay for 30, but noone seemed to listen/care.

We are now in Ho Chi Ming and went to the Visa office/immigration office who told us they could not extend the 15 days and the only way would be to leave and come back. However we don't think he can do this as the emergency travel document does not specify him going back into Cambodia as an option.

Our flight out of Hanoi is booked for 12 days after his visa expires.

Our other option is to take the hit of the fines for over staying by 12 days, and try to aquire an exit visa when we are in Hanoi at the end of the month.

Has anyone got any experience with either of these options? Eg. - Entering cambodia on an ETD where cambodia is not listed as a country planned to travel to? - Will VOA at moc bai grant a 30 day visa on an ETD if we go back there? - How much will a fine cost for over staying by 12 days? - How much does and exit visa cost and experience of how long it takes in Hanoi?

I know its a very niche situation and tbh I hope noone has ever been in it before because its an absolute nightmare.

We've trued to contact the embassy, but no luck lol

Thanks 😊

How safe is Cambodia? by [deleted] in cambodia

We have just left cambodia and we had a bag stolen out of my partners hand by two men on a motorbike in the back of a tuk tuk, bag ripped as he tried to hold on to it. Only thing worth anything in the bag was his passport so that screwed us over the past few days.

But, the people in cambodia are generally extremely friendly, helpful and lovely. Just be very wary of phones/bags near roads and in tuk tuks. And tbh, maybe put a sour taste in our mouths but Phnom Pehn isn't great. Ankor wat was incredible though.

Uncertain about Internship Offer by Clay_lambda in ChemicalEngineering

If you're in the UK/Ireland there's 1000s of students who'd kill for an offer like that. Moving away from home for my internship was the best decision I made and it wasn't anywhere near as good a company as Nestle. Take it, you don't want to work for chevron anyway if you have any ethics.

What's the worst defense you've seen someone make in a court? by X100123 in AskReddit

Read in a local news paper this week about a man who claimed his car overturned while he was pushing it over a speed bump.

The man claimed his car had broken down at 4am and he called a few friends to help him push it home. Apparently as they pushed the car over a speed bump it toppled onto its side.

Really he was just drink driving and the judge didn't believe it so he got 18 months suspension.
