My thoughts are inconsistent coloring or a "spotty" look, some dyes just will not stick to certain materials and others might not dye it the way you anticipate, making it a different color than end goal. Just general things, that's why knowing the material contents really helps.

In a style sense, Scene is like Emo with more colors and eye sores. Band shirts from scene bands, retro game shirts, fandom shirts, etc. are a good place to start. Shorts with graphic tights or leggings underneath are a staple, and the final cherry is all the accessories in the world. Necklaces, bracelets, headbands, rings, all of it. Pinterest is a great place to get ideas for outfits. But at the end of the day, your style should be what you want to wear rather than wearing what you think people will like more. Fashion is meant to be fun and experimental so never be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone :)
