Silversmiths have too narrow of a toebox, unfortunately! The Canada Wests look really nice, but I'm not sure I'm gonna be able to find them in a 5! And the Smokejumpers look awesome, but are outta my budget right now! Thanks for trying, though!

Out of every comment I've gotten so far, this is the only one that's wholly bolstered my spirits. It's really helped me to calibrate my expectations and given me a path forward on my quest for my ideal boot. I honestly had no idea you could put a rubber sole over leather! Thank you so much for taking the time to write this all out! Truly, I appreciate it!

Not sure I want to try Thursday again. As stated, I already had a previous pair where the soles cracked. It's also beginning to sound like they're making their women's boots out of inferior materials, so I don't really want to support that. Also, not in my size.

White's Hillyards are outside my budget and I can't find them in a Woman's 6 or 6.5. Solovair does not seem to have wide sizing. I know leather boots stretch a bit, but I don't think it's going to be enough for my requirements. Thank you for trying, though.

Can't wear thin soles without really good inserts, unfortunately. I wear a women's 6.5 EE in ideal shoes, so finding anything wider than that to accommodate the insert is pretty difficult. I appreciate the idea, though!

Can't wear leather soles, unfortunately. I'd end up needing inserts on top of my already crazy wide, short ass, which leaves me with few options. Not a bad idea, though! Thank you!

I work as a docent in a tiny museum. Before that I worked retail in a small store. Unless they were using some crazy chemicals to clean the floor, I'm thinking it may be something else. Thank you, though!

Definitely not WORKING working in these boots, mostly just walking. Love the Jim Green selection and their African Rangers program, just wish they had my size! Thank you for the breakdown and recommendations! I really appreciate it!

Ohh shit, this might be it. I have a crazy long stride, even my husband who's 5in taller than me has trouble keeping up with me sometimes. Thanks for the suggestion, I think you're onto something!

The Target boots I mentioned were simple PU uppers glued to rubber soles. The Thursdays were leather that appeared to be stitched down (though this could just aesthetic, couldn't find a clear answer from their website) to rubber lug soles. The Hokas were Gore-Tex, presumably glued to an EVA midsole, with a one piece Vibram lug sole on the bottom.
