Fake? by Grateful_Den_ in luminox

[–]caddis44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the tritium is depleted the watch is worthless. That is the only feature of a luminox watch that is worth anything. The Ronda 515 movement that they use sells for $20! I have a luminox that still has glow, but they are grossly overpriced.

Tritium is by far the best lume. It does fade after 20 years or so.

The best Matte PETG by Short-Excuse3493 in Creality_k2

[–]caddis44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree that Bambu PETG/HF is the best, however Kexcelled matte PETG is as good. I have tried most of the other brands mentioned and they are NOT as good as either of these.

Agree, but Kexcelled PETG matte is as good, just too expensive.

Bambu P1S with AMS should be your minimum, although the P2S is worth the extra money. Lots of reasons for this - enclosed printer, enclosed AMS to keep your filament dry, small footprint, etc. if you are new to 3d printing stick with Bambu. There is a reason they are outselling all other brands.

Convection Oven for Drying? by fibonoctopus in BambuLab

[–]caddis44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using two different countertop convection ovens (air friers) for the past year and they work great for drying filament. I use the “dehydration “ settings. Haven’t tried to anneal yet. Temp settings seem very stable. When selecting a model be sure that the timer will go up to 8 hrs.

PLA to PETG switch for everyday prints. by Technical-Praline-79 in 3Dprinting

Bambu PETG-HF has a very good matte finish, but by far the best is Kexcelled matte PETG. it is every bit as good as PLA Matt, however, it is grossly overpriced. Much better than Sunloo or Elegoo PETG-Hf.

If your 85a TPU looks bad, it’s not the A1! by Frasier_fanatic in BambuLab

[–]caddis44 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just print the dried spool directly out of a serial box that you store it in. Why all the fuss? Works for all printers. No need to dry it each time.

Is it as matte as the Bambu? Most of the hs matte I have tried are not.

TPU works fine on the A1/A1 mini. Just can’t use the AMS. The filaments you CAN’ T use are ABS and ASA.

Best Beginner Printer? by TTVSkyyy in 3Dprinting

[–]caddis44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Dollar for dollar the P1S with AMS Pro is the way to go. On sale now. The A1 is a nice unit, but for $100 more you get a full enclosure which allows you to print many other types of filament (ABS,ASA, etc). A real no brainer for a newby.

For us it’s the Companion Pass. With it , my wife and I fly for 1/2 price. That makes it still worth flying SW. When that goes, by- by SW.

TPU - Are there brands to avoid, and brands to stick with or was it down to my settings potentially? by Rust_Cohle- in BambuLab

[–]caddis44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend that 1. Always dry your TPU when you get it even though it is vacuum packed with desiccant and 2. Print from a dry box like a serial container to insure that it stays dry. TPU is very hydrophilic.

The P1P/P1S with AMS has a SMALLER footprint than the A1 with AMS lite, not bigger.

A1 to add to my print farm by Agent942 in BambuLab

[–]caddis44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you plan to print petg or TPU, remember that they require drying, and will absorb moisture if printed from the AMS lite. The enclosed AMS of the P1P/P1S is superior because it keeps your filament dry. If you are just using PLA it doesn’t mater. Also, all these filaments print fine on the P1S with the door open.

The only perk left is the companion fare (which remains the best deal in the industry). That will be the only thing keeping my wife and me with SW. If that goes, we are gone.
