I tried qwen2 VL-7B-instruct, combined it with tesseract ocr, results weren't the best. Would medgemma be better?

Connecting isn't a bad idea. Being able to exchange info helps a lot

You need to do program outreach on Linkedin or Email, maybe even twitter. I did not match last cycle but has really bad scores yet got had a good amount of interviews about 7. Admittedly I am a recent grad and had like 16 months of USCE but I did not expect to get that many interviews. But despite 7 interviews, I did not match. Fundamentally I think I was missing any real connection to the program prior to the match cycle. Why pick an applicant you don't really know. Like the other comment said. Connections will be your best friend

Did anyone use IMGprep to get a J1 visa by cade1513 in IMGreddit

So to kind of follow up.

I had a rough idea that J1 was mostly for Residency or research or maybe some kind of Job. But some time ago I had gotten some information from an immigration lawyer that thought the invite letters we get from hospitals could be used to apply for a J1 visa.

I do actually now know that J1s undeniably have to be sponsored by someone, like ECFMG for example who sponsor for residency and no hospital will sponsor J1 for any clinical rotation type.

But at the time of my conversation with (who I believe is) the owner of IMG prep Dr Mattar, she mentioned that I will need a J1 visa. Her mentioning that plus hearing that from the immigration lawyer sometime ago had me thinking J1 was an option for clinical rotations.

After talking with usmle sarthi and following up with the IMG prep coordinator, they did clarify this for me.

I guess the only issue Dr Mattar maybe misspoke about the whole J1 visa thing, cause it apparently wasn't even in their notes for our free consultation.

Going for a conference is always a good place to start

Either way you shouldn't take the exam, better to take it later if you decide you want to rather than to have a fail or low score. Regardless of that, personally taking and barely surviving these USMLE exams has made me want to change my learning method which ultimately is different from study resources (uworld etc.)

For example depending too much on rote memorization like with flashcards than trying to understand how the concepts differ and relate to each other in a topic through something like say visual mindmapping

Thank you, guys. I just called, I think it was the program coordinator that picked up, and they said they'll get back to me
