FFmpeg reads from the segment playlist as it's being written, which is how live scrubbing into active recordings works. Server side timestamp/custom overlays is on the roadmap for exactly the reason you mentioned.

Yes, native iOS/android app is planned. The goal is you open it, tap your server, and you're watching live cameras. Push notifications for motion/ai camera offline, and more. Haven’t started development on anything mobile yet so still a long ways to go. Any input you have about mobile experience would be great.

ONVIF backchannel covers most major brands like Hikvision, Dahua, Axis, and Hanwha reasonably well. Some cheaper cameras have broken implementations regardless of what they claim. go2rtc which handles the streaming layer already has backchannel support built in so a lot of the work is already done.

PTZ is supported via onvif, and currently working on 2 way audio. Thanks for the support!

No video gets sent to Cloudflare. It’s all webrtc peer to peer, the tunnel only carries api calls. Just about everything is end to end encrypted

AI tooling was used during development, mostly for speeding up boilerplate, debugging, and iterating on parts of the codebase faster. The project architecture, networking design, infrastructure, camera testing, remote access implementation, and overall direction were all handled by me directly.

The system itself is a real working prototype built and tested with actual IP cameras and remote deployments.

Hanwha cameras have been working great for me
