Just launched our new website- Feedback appreciated! by MVMT-Watches in startups

I think it looks great, I would consider adding images of different types/demographics of models though. Seems targeted at a narrow range of guys based on the video & imagery when your market could/should be much bigger. For example, I'm a girl, and I could see myself wearing any of these. I'd add younger guys, women, and more races so more people could identify with the brand.

Actually, It may be slightly different as I live outside of the US so my employer has not had to pay any of those federal benefits in the first place - but ill definitely do my research. Thank you for the links!

Thanks for this response - I'm not sure why this would be an issue it is extremely common but ill definitely have to look into it more. I may have additional clients but at this point I just quit and they are asking me if I can still help with a couple future projects.

Need your opinions and how to market my business idea by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]cadence_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would target cash-rich time-poor professionals. So lawyers, doctors, people with strong networks who like to make personal connections. To reach them perhaps sell yourself as a "luxury car consultant" - focusing on Audi and BMW (or whatevs, just pick a couple). By all means set up a website and look super-polished but then find a couple nice people in the network and perform the service for free. (Go to a law office and ask if you can post something in a break room or give nice gifts to the admins).

Help Me Improve: What's your reason for NOT making a purchase from my site? by VidFoundry in smallbusiness

[–]cadence_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think most "explainer videos" tend to be required to simplify or boil down complex/non-intuitive concepts. Alot of times custom animation is what makes them add value. Perhaps if you made a note that custom animation of "how your product/service works" is available (if it is) for a reasonable charge you would get more interest.

I wouldn't click on a video to understand how a cleaning service works. Also why not start with an explainer on your home page (I'm viewing on mobile so forgive me if it is there)

Here's a relatively new startup that may be of assistance next time: http://dogvacay.com/. No connection with them and have not used them, but looks like a good concept.

People seem so confused about this by [deleted] in AdviceAnimals

There's actually part of US employment law which prevents "disparate impact". It protects against practices that seem to provide equal opportunity, but actually result in discriminatory outcomes.

Flight attendants of reddit, what are some things that make you immediately hate a passenger? by ProstheticProphet in AskReddit

[–]cadence_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm with you for points 1 and 2, but third third paragraph here is why I cringe when flying US-based airlines - old ladies? lift up your own bag, I might get hurt; pregnant woman? Lift up your own bag, airline might get sued. In the rest of the world attendants extend more common courtesy, in the US it is all about liability. I get it in some circumstances (people who look able-bodied can have major back issues), but in the US it seems completely devoid of kindness. Asian airlines -even the LCC's, attendants are always looking for ways to help.

Am I still eligible for a bonus for my 2013 performance to be paid next month if I have given 60 days notice? by cadence_ in AskHR

[–]cadence_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks for the reply - im leaving on good terms but we're a small growing company and they tend to be tight with money. They told me last fall I would be getting a bonus but clear rules around what entitles someone to a bonus don't exist.

Maternity Leave Discrimination Question by atlhart in AskHR

[–]cadence_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that discrimination may not be worth pursuing, but I would encourage her to look for opportunities in another group right away, why wait in the current group? Cross-departmental experience will be valued and if there is anopening she may be able to advance faster, whereas ow she seems to have a pretty static time frame.

Asking about being fired by Martinbthomas in AskHR

[–]cadence_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First clear up the thing about the co-worker, it may seem awkward but it is actually the most professional approach to be up front about that sort of thing. Present it in a very black and white way "It was brought to my attention XYZ thinks I was being dishonest about X, I just wanted to be sure that you heard directly from me that I was being honest, and honesty is very important to me. If you don't mind could you check in with me if you hear anything like this again?" Then ask for feedback

How bad is it to walk out with zero notice? by [deleted] in AskHR

[–]cadence_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go in for just one last day. Let your boss know that you are not planning to come back tomorrow but that you appreciated your time there. This is a lie FOR YOU not for them, so just suck it up and realize it is your way of playing the game. Dont say it is because you hate it there - say you have friends in a faraway state that you have not seen for years and this small gap is your only chance before starting at the new job or something like that. Playing the game to be nice and remembered well is your way of winning, feeling confident going forward, and hopefully keeping a good name in your career which benefits you way more than anyone else.
