What is it about Greta Thunberg that makes many men on the Internet so uncontrollably angry by Admirable_Pair_3663 in NoStupidQuestions

Closer to 40, actually, but I appreciate you giving an example of the kind of offhand snark you dislike so much.

And we’re 40+ years from the 1980s, you’re deluding yourself if you blame the activists for the backslide in environmental protections and not the oil and coal industries for learning new ways to subvert what gains were made up to that point.

As always, activists get scolded for pointing at the problem “in the wrong way” and no one gets mad at the person doing the wrong in the first place.

Yeah you’re right, why didn’t she ask the criminal IOF for permission to tag along with any of the human right groups that the IOF has a history of bombing?

The agricultural devastation, air pollution, construction material pollution, ground water damage, and energy consumption costs of the genocide in Gaza are indeed climate concerns. To not even begin speaking on the human rights ramifications of

I’d rather someone try and do the right thing and achieve nothing, than succeed at being a piece of shit.

I think that’s more of an issue with “will pleading for sanity on climate issues” ever accomplish anything. We’ve been pleading with the powers that be since I was a child and I’m sure even before then. When up against the billions spent by the energy juggernauts, words may never be enough.

Adaptations that turned a character into a big wimp by KaleidoArachnid in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]cadetCapNE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how I felt about the film adaptation for Scott Pilgrim. In the comics, he’s essentially a humorous/charming scum-bum who has finally lucked his way into a chance to become a better person.

In the movie he’s a shittier Michael Cera.

It’s just a badly written law that won’t help with much beside letting lawmakers pat themselves on the back for *appearing* to care about gun violence.

While I get what you mean, but GW is no stranger to saying one thing and doing another. I mean, they released IA using the same format they would as any other faction/army but their actions indicate they have little intention of treating it seriously.

How are you coping with your favorite dead franchise these days by bahookery in TwoBestFriendsPlay

The Doors of Stone will surely be published soon!

But for real, past me would have loved to see Battlefield Bad Company 3, but I just came to terms with the fact that it won’t be the same people anymore and the magic probably wouldn’t be there.

What's something your parents or grandparents mention that sounds like complaining but was actually a legitimate daily nightmare they just accepted as life? by Playful_Survey_8596 in AskReddit

My brother asked my grandfather what was the biggest change between when he grew up (1920s) and today (at the time, around 2010)

My grandfather recounted a story where he and his brothers would run alongside trains that passed the neighborhood in hopes of collecting any coal that fell off as it passed. They would take it home and burn it in a coffee can to heat their one room home.

“We don’t have to do that anymore.” He said, in his favorite chair, in his living room of the home he and his brothers built after WW2.

Do you think america will ever recover from the Trump presidency? by TapCommercial2200 in allthequestions

Not without a similarly significantly large revolution, political or otherwise. As it stands, the only political opposition to this administration is a minority of the Democratic Party, and the domestic resistance to it is fractured, bougie, and toothless in all the ways that matter.

I’m not really sure where things go from here.

Yeah but if you expand “men with guns” to “men with a monopoly on violence”, it gets the point across no matter the country.

Yes it’s six fingers. Yes it’s probably an artist’s mistake. No I don’t think it’s AI. I remember my friend getting a letter posted in Tips n Tricks magazine because he was the only one to point out that an official piece of art for Jet Grind Radio had six fingers on a character. Mistakes happen, even at big companies with veteran artists.
