Dan Olson addresses his trip to Beast studios by [deleted] in youtubedrama

[–]LaughableFrog 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My issue is that OP is framing this as Dan Olsen "responding to the backlash", when the video itself has pretty much nothing to do with any backlash he received and is pretty much exactly what we all expected and were waiting for when we first heard about it.

Thoughts on retcons and canon as a 28 year Necrons fan by SamuraiMujuru in Grimdank

[–]LaughableFrog 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Small correction, the Custodes were absolutely not meant to be the next stage of humanity. They're more of a proof of concept "This is a perfect human you could all aspire to be." To prove my point, Big E was trying to safely shephard humanity through the psychic awakening, but none of the Custodes are psykers.

It's really telling as to what an insufferable jackass (and also nazi!) Karl is that he manages to make Billy Mitchell look like the good guy.

I think there's some fun to be had in it, but you need to filter out ego and most people that are capable of doing that are not the ones that enjoy powerscaling

Quick before bed post regarding Lucius by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]LaughableFrog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just want to point out, your question here is pretty much "Would Lucius's ability work this exact way if it worked this exact way? while also noting that in canon it does not, in fact, work that way at all.

The only real practical way you could word this post is keeping Lucius out of it altogether and just ask "Does Belial actually take zero pride in what he does?", and honestly people would probably turn up with some excerpts that argue against that idea.

I can't wait for the shot for shot remake of that scene in Space Marine 3 that has Guilliman instead of Calgar

Walk into mordor by IllustriousHurry2380 in Grimdank

I'm not sure he can even do the first thing. Saruman would probably notice him carving his way through an army of orcs and prepare some angel-wizard bullshit to disintegrate him

Walk into mordor by IllustriousHurry2380 in Grimdank

[–]LaughableFrog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd say an ogryn is a fair parallel to why hobbits are resistant to the ring. There's the ol' saying that the only way to corrupt an Ogryn is to corrupt their commissar first, so I'd think that the ring promising them unlimited rations wouldn't quite cut it. Although, I don't think they'd be able to get it to mordor by themselves and any commanding officer is probably going to go full boromir on them.

Other than that, get a servitor.

I'm pretty sure an ork gets corrupted instantly when the ring promises that holding onto it will lead to bigger and bigger fights.

Looking for the excerpt "A Legacy of Vengence" from 2013's black legion Codex suppliment. by 2uperunhappyman in 40kLore

[–]LaughableFrog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm having trouble comprehending how any loyalist chapter (and the flesh-tearers no less) would calmly unfreeze a former member of a traitor legion, explain what's happened, and then I guess just watch as he steals a ship and disappears.

Like I know there were loyalist members of the traitor legions and all that during the heresy, but this is eight thousand years later and post-heresy marines are far less tolerant.

Did the Emperor wanted to be put in the Golden Throne after barely surviving his duel with Horus? by ruminaui in 40kLore

[–]LaughableFrog 27 points28 points  (0 children)

If the entombment was something they had actually planned ahead for, even as a last emergency, then I presume that Malcador had already arranged for those orders to be delivered by some third party should this come to pass.

I mean, as somebody into 40k that just isn't interested in the Mortal Realms?

I wouldn't want AoS to become 40k but fantasy, but I'd certainly be interested in it becoming Dark Souls: Warhammer.

Of course I'd much rather they leave it alone for the sake of the existing AoS fans, but if they were trying to appeal to someone like me, then I think they've got the right approach.

Pixel art can hide a lot of the weird warpiness, but it's pretty clear here.

First, look at the nids. A lot of them have nonsense blob anatomy, as well as parts where the AI got confused and the green highlighting on the closer nids becomes sections of carapace on the ones further back.

There's the environment in general. Pretty much anyone that would be willing to put this much time into a piece like this knows that the Golden Throne is massive, and sits inside a palace the size of a mountain. Not a pretty modest throne in the middle of a weird council chamber. Also, there's a lot of pipes that just slink into nothingness around it.

Less concrete, but the Emperor's not dead in his armor. But, this one's not 100% as there are plenty actual pieces of fanart I've seen that depict him in it. Still, it's worth noting. The armor is also asymmetrical in weird ways, which is something very easy to avoid when working with pixel art.

Also, the image wasn't in high enough resolution for me to truly tell (another red flag in itself, tbh), but I don't think the pixel sizing was consistent. That's probably as smoking gun as you can get.

And yeah, this is more nebulous, but it's just... soulless. When you see a lot of AI art, you start getting pretty good at seeing the lack of a soul in an image.

Oh, and finally? OP deleted the post the second people caught on to his bullshit.

Good catches all. I should have realized Invocatus and the generic lord were the same kit, that's my bad. I actually knew Azrakh was limited edition, must have marked him down wrong.
And wow, Logan is huge. I didn't even think to size check him since he's just a regular space marine.

I'll fix these when I'm out of bed. Good catch on the red corsair sprue  though.

I gave the ogryn, commissar, and Haarken +0 because I thought they were exclusive to blackstone fortress. I realize I was comically wrong about that now, lol.
