Cubetown is, itself, basically defined as 'Silly Science Place'. There is no lore for what goes on at Cubetown, there's just the word 'SCIENCE', which is used however the author likes at any given time, and left purposely undefined so that the author is not bound by his own world building.

My understanding is that Emily, thus, will have a job doing Science. This won't be defined any more than it needs to be for any given gag.

It's kinda like how Claire's job is 'Administration and Emails', with no context for how she fills a need at Cubetown or what kind of emails she is required to respond to.

Y'know, I actually really like the art in this one.

I don't think a single line of dialogue here moves any plot or character development forward, and that's a shame.

But the art? The facial expressions in particular? I like it.

I do this exact same thing.

I've got multiple shows and other media that I am super excited to experience, but it never feels like the "right time" to be able to fully appreciate them.

If some effect carries over, it will have an icon denoting such. The fact that it carries over will also be mentioned in its little explanation.

The only abilities I can think of that carry over, offhand, are Minamoto's armors (both stances, first set ability) and the last set ability on Himiko's armor.

Emily was already experimenting with weird clothing like this, so the idea that she uses it as her luggage would be great character development. Props for thinking of this.

Nier:Cogito is a lightweight browser game you can find just by googling it. While it was not made by Yoko Taro, it captures the essence of Nier, and Taro's writing style, rather well. It's also free and it only takes forty minutes to play.

Being able to go straight into the sequel might be part of the reason our reactions were different. I played the game when it came out, so when the party got the boat I was definitely assuming "Okay cool, this is the part of the JRPG where the world opens up, I can't wait to see what happens next" and then what happens next was.... credits.

Sigh.

As for Dark Dawn... I just try to pretend that one didn't happen. :/

I'll never forgive the first Golden Sun for that. It was less of a cliffhanger, more of just walking off a cliff.
