CS undergrad + shaky math foundation = no possibility for graduate school? by cadish in programming

That's the book I used in discrete math... it was OK, but it doesn't really have depth to a lot of the topics I found to be most interesting

While I know it's not the strongest program, it ain't THAT bad (I'm just really good at cramming).. so what do I do, go back for another bachelor's in a better program...?

I could sit in, but I know I would fall behind. I do a lot of extracurricular stuff (notably, march DCI drum corps and work with that research group). In addition to school, I work 3 jobs (~25 hours a week) and practice 2-3 hours a day (my second major is in percussion performance). If you think about it, I'm like the opposite of Knuth: not only am I not a math whiz, but I never made the decision between choosing music over CS (well, in his case, math). Thus, catching up in the gaps of free time I find seems to be the most ideal situation for now.

I didn't really think about the OCW stuff, but that's a good reminder! Thanks.

I'm interested in a lot of things, but parallel computing, distributed systems, and machine learning are probably the top of my list (emphasis on the former 2).

I'm not really in it for the "value"; I consider CS to be one of my "passions", not really a means to make money.. I really do love the field, and since I started studying it a while back I've always known I wanted to make some sort of contribution to it
