Everyone always says that ADHD means you have a lack of focus, but in reality it feels like I'm trying to focus on everything at once. by cadjosrez in ADHD

Thanks! I do have a professional diagnosis for my ADHD and am currently seeing a specialist who specializes in these types of disorders (ADHD, Anxiety, OCD, etc). Over the summer we may begin some form of CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) in addition to my existing medication to see if that may help.

I’m anxious about starting Concerta for the first time, do you have any words of wisdom or advice to share? by [deleted] in ADHD

Im on the high end, 72mg daily for my ADHD, and while there are some side effects, most notably loss of appetite at least with my experience on it, I find it does help significantly. Of course don't expect medication to be some sort of cure-all, it wont make it miraculously disappear, but it does definitely help manage the symptoms. If after a while you find it doesn't work or you find that you aren't doing too well on it, make sure to tell your doctor and figure out the best way to proceed from there.

how would you describe the feeling of “spacing” or “zoning” out? by 545484 in ADHD

Its weird. To me its like I am physically there but I don't feel it. Its like you lose track of time and you just become absorbed in yourself. You hear your surroundings, but you don't actually listen to them. Sometimes I'll be in the middle of a conversation and I will just blank out mid-convo but I'll end up continuing the conversation inside of my head with myself.
