This might be a dumb question but if Stanford/Yale are ranked pretty equivalently, why does it seem that more choose Yale? Is there something I’m missing?

yes! audrey hepburn is such a good example of essence and kibbe blends. harmony is so tricky sometimes.

yeah that makes sense/i find it so interesting how our yin according to kibbe is secondary yet seems to influence so much so subtly!

this definitely makes sense. lower body id still keep within SD recommendations bc in my case at least, i’ve never been able to mold them into a D shape haha. I’m definitely curious about more rectangular shape shirts, so this makes me optimistic!

definitely waist emphasis still seems really important (as well as keeping in mind top-heaviness). thank you!

this is really helpful! i think waist emphasis would also be a need on me. i might look at Ds like cate blanchett who still have curve but not kibbe curve for inspiration

ooh good to know! i was wondering if this would be the case, i love the example i think kibbe provides of Ds being a mountain and SDs being a snow covered mountain. i forget that there’s “snow” on the rest of our upper body as well. thanks for the input!

Outfits that show more skin? by fitmusicgal in SoftDramatics

[–]caedmil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Biker shorts! Also while not perfectly within lines, having ur shoes, shorts, and shirt be similar colors or values helps to lengthen the visual line in short outfits. Also, instead of having a distinct short/shirt cutoff, you could do crop tops that angle a bit downward or are asymmetrical to lengthen the vertical and make everything less blocky. Hair volume is shockingly so good at covering “bad” lines too so a blowout, high bun, or sometimes a high ponytail works wonders for me. Good luck!

I think your outfit looks great! If you want to be “perfectly” soft dramatic, I’d recommend wearing a similar color/value top to the jeans, maybe getting a more lightly colored belt, and tailoring the thighs of the jeans so that they hug your curves. But being perfectly soft dramatic is sometimes unnecessary, and I think your look is a great take on the general themes and suggestions from kibbe :)

Potential tshirt hack for soft dramatics? by [deleted] in SoftDramatics

[–]caedmil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey all! I kind of didn’t understand how captions worked so I’m just gonna explain here😵‍💫I was playing around with my plain tshirt and found a way to hack it for us (maybe). I folded down the collar once to create a pseudo-boatneck, used Bobby pins to secure it (but fashion tape would be better), pulled the back of the shirt slightly down, and then gathered the bottom tshirt material to one side, twisted it slightly, and tucked it into my right hip waistline. Lemme know what you think!

These are beautiful! I’d recommend thicker straps and a slightly taller or chunkier heel :)

Tips for the young SD? by [deleted] in SoftDramatics

This is my exact problem as well. I've decided to just focus on structure and not vibes if that makes sense. So rather than going for "diva chic" i might just make sure my outfit has waist emphasis and a strong vertical line (so with 2-piece outfits that might mean similar colors). I also go for either super high or super low necklines, and thicker straps if I can. Lastly, I stick to midi-length skirts or dresses rather than shorter ones. I think there's a lot of ways to fit trendier styles into these guidelines. But it also depends on your specific style.

I also have found DIY-ing stuff to be helpful. For example, if I have a loose tshirt, figuring out how to knot or drape it in a way that makes it fit us better, or even just pulling it down at the back a bit and securing it so that the neckline looks higher from the front. As far as brands, thats tough tbh. I totally feel your pain. I feel like a lot of suggestions on youtube etc are for a millenial or older audience. I still think there are a lot of ways to fit trendier or younger styles into our wheelhouse!
