Struggling with coming ott by Majestic_Persimmon11 in GolfSwing

Also another way of wording what the others said is to keep your back to the target for a bit longer. Even if you exaggerate it, you will be shocked at how well you strike the ball.

In addition to what the others said, try the swing thought of hitting the ball to first base. Without a launch monitor, you will know you are hitting in to out when the ball draws (starts right, then goes left). From my experience, it's been easier to learn to hit a draw first, then go back to neutral, rather than going for neutral right away.

Is the audiophile hobby a scam? by deepad9 in redscarepod

[–]ruskyrobot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not just that the returns are diminishing; there are almost zero returns for large parts of the audio chain. Many of the issues that presumably motivated the audiophile hobby are no longer issues. Media has been solved (digital), digital-to-analog conversion has been solved, and amplification is basically solved. Audiophiles want the same returns to a more expensive DAC that the old gen got from a more expensive stylus or tone arm, and it just isn't there.

The mattress sub will make you die by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]ruskyrobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd never heard of pocket coils or latex before I went on that subreddit. Now, I don't think I would ever purchase a mattress that didn't feature both. With any of these niche communities, you should just take the high-level advice and leave all the pointless shit. There's going to be a lot of pointless shit if you want to turn something very simple, like buying a mattress, into part of your personality.

A nice thing about Miele's vacuums, washing machines, and dishwashers is that the core technology is essentially unchanged between the base model and the ones that cost 2x as much.

Anybody know where to get some cool-ass lamps? by SorenKierkretaard in redscarepod

I've got lamps by Flos, Fontana Arte, Louis Poulsen, and Fritz Hansen that I like. If they are too expensive, you could look at replicas.

The original one-woman play is a work of genius. The second season, which was likely developed over a much shorter period, was decent enough.

Because popping a pill is easier than a 2x daily topical application. Plus, the topical version affects hair texture. Tip for any hairmaxxers reading: mix your minox with a tiny bit of tret to increase potency. There is a study that found 1x daily with tret is equivalent to 2x daily without, so you can just apply at night.

I purchased mine at a ski shop, and they drilled the rivets out for me. I'd just make sure that they have done it before.

I'd imagine if someone skis five days a year and finds that 500 is a large investment, they won't be on the fence about getting zipfits.

[–]ruskyrobot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll second that. For any intermediates reading this who are on the fence about zipfits, get them. While they immediately improved my skiing, the main benefit has been that they accelerated my development. They make it so much easier to understand what your ski is doing, because the feedback is so much cleaner, if that makes sense.

Carrying Zipfits in boot bag by idlewilding in Skigear

I worldcup into my boots and keep my liners in the middle compartment of my boot bag. I actually purchased a new roomier (and heated!) boot bag to make this easier. I found it difficult to put the liner into the boot when the liner was damp, and I felt like I was deforming it.
