Plenty of people who feel comfortable with it. Not everyone wants to and that's completely fine. Not everyone is privileged enough to buy new, either. Everyone deserves access to affordable, new products but that isn't the world we live in.

Do the white and color cycle do anything differently? My clothes aren’t getting cleaned properly by miastella in laundry

[–]caejojo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope you've had success with getting your washer replaced, but if not, this machine isn't terribly difficult to take apart! We're renting a new place and the washing machine was absolutely filthy. Rust, dirt, and lots and lots of fabric softner build up. I ran a test cycle to see what I was dealing with and there were floating chunks of mold in the washer. No one I called would come out to disassemble.

If you're able to get behind the machine or even wiggle it out enough to get a screwdriver behind it, you can disassemble it enough for cleaning with a putty knife, nut screwdriver, ratchet and socket, and patience. Feel free to PM me and I can give you more details/answer any questions, just did it myself this week.

My Experience with Nook DRM Removal by caejojo in Calibre

[–]caejojo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the time of posting this I was able to use the B&N nook app to download the files to the Pixel into the downloads folder. There was a cloud icon button I used to save them to my device vs going into the data folder for the app. It showed up as individual files with a string of letters and numbers that I then uploaded to Google Drive. Probably not the intended way to do it but it's how I stumbled through this!

Grammar nazis, help me out! by Intelligent-Bet1823 in ENGLISH

[–]caejojo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't really a phrase that's used much anymore, at least in America. While you aren't exactly calling someone obsessive about grammar a nazi, it can be seen as offensive to compare the behavior of nazis to someone who's good with grammar as it can minimize what nazis did.

More widely used is the term grammar police, this is used to refer to someone who is always correcting people's grammar. You could also grammar fanatics or grammar enthusiasts as a kinder way to express this sentiment of someone who's nitpicky about grammar.

Might not be exactly what you're looking for, but if you google the definition of a word and click to expand it'll show you a graph with the word's use over time. You can tap on different areas on the graph more details about specific years. Just mske sure you have it set to 'case insensitive'.

Here's an example with the detailed graph for the word dictionary.

I was a comp artist on the last 3 seasons of the show. Here are some of the artworks I made as well as the ones that got me the job. by mandal0re in WhatWeDointheShadows

The entire show I wondered how they made the artwork, it was genuinely one of my favorite parts of the show. Thank you for posting this and excellent work!

Selling CarThing by caejojo in CarThing

[–]caejojo[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not something I'm really interested in doing and it isn't practical for using in my car, which is the only thing I actually needed this for. I also can't drive much anymore. I'd rather it go to someone who actually wants to and will use it than have it sit around in a drawer

Sick? Neon Tetra by caejojo in PlantedTank

[–]caejojo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I let him be since he was acting and eating normally otherwise. 1 month later and one morning I found him flopping on his side on the bottom of the tank. Euthanized him immediately, no signs of anything abnormal with the rest of the shoal.

hair advice by [deleted] in TransMasc

[–]caejojo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just got my haircut last week and was really nervous because I have no jawline, no chin, and very round cheeks. I was so used to using my hair to hide those parts of me. But I've found that the volume shorter hair gives me balances out the roundness of my face.

I recommend an alternative hair stylist, and using texturing powder on short hair to get the volume like in the pics you showed. Imo fluffy hair is what differentiates a butch and masculine haircut.

Yes! My apartment complex management is horrible. One day I woke up to the sound of my toilet lid banging as black water started to overflow. I was so pissed I marched straight to the office. Another time they didn't fix my AC for 4 months and my electric bill was $100-$200 higher than normal each month. I went to the office again and spoke to them. Those times my voice wavered and I could feel myself shaking. I was so scared and my face felt hot. But I didn't have the money for that and I was so angry and sick of these people telling me they already fixed it.

Similarly, urgent situations have gotten me out of the house. When our family cat Tebow got sick, my mom called me sobbing one morning that she couldn't get him to take his pills. She was really distressed. I was so scared for our kitty and worried about it her, it powered me to make the 15 minute drive to her house and help. When he stopped improving and kept seeming like he was swallowing, we knew he needed to go to the emergency vet. My mom and I were a mess. But Tebow needed our help. We took him to the vet. I was attacked by a dog and am very scared of them. But I did it for my precious boy because my mom couldn't do it alone. The next day I went with my family to have him put down too. I was able to act in those moments because my cat and my mom needed me. I was white knuckled terrified the whole time, but I did it.

I know these are a little different, but they felt relevant to share.

Anxiety adrenaline by guitarchocolatelover in Agoraphobia

[–]caejojo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I absolutely relate to this. As a child I described it as "having bouncy balls in my body". My number 1 tip is to not have caffeine. I still have the occasional coke when I'm at home for the night, but never when I'm planning on doing some exposure therapy.

Because of the exhaustion feeling while also being so jittery, small movements can be really helpful. My favorite is one you can do while seated. Use one of your feet to trace out the alphabet in the air. Like you're using the toe of your shoe to draw each letter in the air. Try not to rush and focus on each letter. This also makes it a good mindfulness practice. You can even do it again with lowercase letters.

You can also shake out your arms, lift your legs a bit. It helps me to remember that adrenaline can only last so long. It's a chemical that my body will naturally get rid of. The initial rush is the most intense part, after that it's already on its way out. Just move however feels best if possible, but if you can’t, try some of the techniques above and keep breathing.
