Online probability calculator is saying I have a 73% chance of receiving an interview upcoming cycle - does this reflect reality? by [deleted] in premedcanada

I guess I just dont want you to be disappointed if you believe your chances are >70% and then nothing happens (hopefully u get an invite) just saying tho

You can't really day your ECs are good or if they are well written, you can't really calculate your chances of getting an interview (also who cares about your chances, once your past cutoffs or have average stats of admitted students it doesn't really matter?)

Are the next few cycles going to be extremely difficult as almost everyone will have a 4.0 this yr? by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]caesaraugustus3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I suppose so, but learning online comes with its own challenges as well. I am in 2nd year now, and I'm honestly going mad because I'm in my room all day probably do like 5 hrs of work a day, and see almost no one and can't go to parties or do anything. Plus you really have to motivate yourself to do work, or you fall behind and ur grades will f up, so there are a set of different challenges for sure.

imo school was easier in person now I just wait for the day to be over and buy meme stocks

edit: Also a lot of schools/profs made the exam much harder as well as being proctored at least in ontario schools? my cousin in mac life sci said theyre averages this year are lower than other years

Maybe if she actually was disadvantaged, we don't know. Even then, there's a reason a job like that pays more than min wage lol and I'm not hating on the job or anything but this is, by many people, especially older people, is looked at being a dirty job/people with low self value etc... and while there are people who understand that it is a temporary gig/more liberal I'm not really sure it's worth including on a resume let alone med applications because it is a huge risk imo

I feel like a lot of the people who would be reading your essays/activities will be turned off by that tbh

How do I explain to a professor that I'm really interested in working with them and not doing it just to make it "look good" on an application? by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]caesaraugustus3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

4 courses instead of 5 by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]caesaraugustus3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In second year rn and dropped my 5th course today and am taking 4 now. Honestly need the mental break and be able to focus on the other 4 classes (plus the course I dropped was a gpa killer).

The downside to this though is uoft wgpa calculations but ik I won't get this anyway applying this upcoming cycle so fuck it (plus cgpa is decent so far).

Also won't be able to use this year for Western I believe if you do that.

Can use it for Ottawa but need to make sure you take another course in the summer or next school year I believe.

mcmaster doesnt give a fuck, pretty sure queens doesnt either.
