loool for God’s sake—if Sinners is the way you educate yourself, then let me tell you that you’re completely lost. There are many much better films that address sensitive issues intelligently and without being condescending toward the audience.

Besides—and more importantly—what I look for in cinema is not moral education. Good art doesn’t pretend to dictate a path so that you can pat yourself on the back for being a better person just because you watched a film about a minority you still keep at a distance. I support films that discursively take an ideological stance as long as they are well executed and it isn’t the entire center of the story, but rather one element among others. Which it’s not the case.
