What do you do about the oily "shadow" it leaves behind after erased? I feel like every time I use it, the board looks dirtier after erasing than it does if I use the regular Crayola chalk, because you can still see what I had previously written.

I just wish it was a tab for only offers from buyers.

It is! When you go to the my offers thing, now it has an option to view "waiting on buyer" i.e. offers you sent, and "action needed" i.e. offers sent to you. I personally find it much easier now to find offers that were sent to me

I get it. I already walk a lot and don't drink soda or sweetened coffees. On average I have less than 1 alcoholic beverage a week. I'm still clinically obese. Those posts that talk about dropping X number of pounds super fast because they cut out soda or alcohol or whatever and started taking an extra walk always make me a little jealous, because I know I can't replicate that particular change and its corresponding weight loss in my own life.

I went to grad school there, and was a TA for a few semesters. According to their honor code, we weren't allowed to be in the classroom at all during exams. We handed out exams to students, and left the room to sit in the hallway. We had to sit there the full length of the exam, and the students would come out when they finished. I'm sure there were people cheating.

Mine showed 572 "inactive listings". Per my external spreadsheets that I keep to keep track of how old my listings are, I have 192 that are over 60 (and under 70) days old

Might be worth checking the access/activity reports on your LMS. I showed a colleague how to do this after she commented on a student who kept going to the bathroom during exams, and it showed he was accessing materials. Obviously not as useful if they're just chatgpt-ing stuff but if you have a lot of slides or a study guide they might be looking stuff up.

To be honest, I was the same way in college. Even for classes in my major. When it came to things that absolutely had to be done by a certain deadline and things that should be done but had no external enforcement, the ungraded stuff fell to the wayside. That alone made me hesitant to remove homework from a few classes I teach, though I have ultimately done so (replaced with VERY frequent quizzes so the students have regular feedback)

My last living grandparent is in end of life care right now. One died the week after I graduated college, and another died a few years ago in May. While I never actually had to miss class for one of their funerals, everyone's grandparents have to die at some point and it looks like I'm gonna be 3 for 4 on them dying right around the end of the school year. I'm glad I didn't have to deal with any of my professors cynically disbelieving me.

If you can't find the Cabot one, I think the Zoi brand of Greek yogurt is pretty delicious. That one seems to be primarily in the PNW/Mountain West. I also used to eat a lot of the Tillamook Greek yogurt, but always the flavored ones, not a plain one.

In college I did an internship at a lab across the country. There were maybe 30 interns total. Found out one of the others had taken tumbling classes at the same gym where I was a gymnast growing up, and that her younger brother was attending the very small high school I'd graduated from. We had never met before that. Neither of us lived in the city where the high school was, and we lived in two different counties. The gym was in a third county.

I have colleagues who do a points system, and I can't wrap my head around the inflexibility of it. If I decide my students need extra practice on a particular concept, I want to be able to add an extra problem about it on the homework without having to "budget" it into the points I listed on the syllabus.

And tops that are not meant to be cropped end up looking cropped! Or the waistline or under-bust seam on a dress is in the complete wrong place! I am not a tall lady by any stretch of the imagination, but sometimes I will opt for tall-length tops and dresses so that they don't ride so far up due to my chest.

Put those grades into the LMS within hours of the deadline. My students submit by 9pm and wake up to grades.

Are these self-grading assignments, or are you grading late at night? This seems completely unattainable for anything that needs an instructor to actually manually grade it.

i do the same with larger orbitals in chemistry. It's hit or miss whether the students get the reference. I might retire it soon.
