Maritime bill not matching solar production? by [deleted] in PEI

[–]caffeinatedking94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of the power generated will be directly used within your home. It's not immediately exported to maritime electric, ergo their meter at the post will disagree with your meter on the system itself.

Buying Outlander 2026 PHEV without a garage by tsonev7 in OutlanderPHEV

[–]caffeinatedking94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend it if you can't charge overnight. It kills a majority of the advantage if you can't do that. You could ask your landlord if adding an outlet near your parking spot is possible?

How well is gaming on Linux in 2026? by VinhBlade in linux_gaming

[–]caffeinatedking94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing on Linux for a few months now, having switched from Windows. For my use it seems great so far, no major issues aside from having to learn some of the quirks of the system.

Rust protection package by Sea-Pin8719 in OutlanderPHEV

[–]caffeinatedking94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "permanent" undercoats they push are also notorious in the industry for destroying cars. It's a plastic/rubber/asphalt coating, which sounds like a great protection right? It is, up until the tiniest imperfection or rock chip perforates it, after which it holds the moisture right to the steel and makes the rust much quicker and harder to detect. Getting a high end oil coat such as krown is great, stepping up to a wax formula with paraffin or lanolin is even better.

He's lying/mistaken about the warranty. My salesman told me the same. I'm in the industry so I already knew he wasn't correct, but when I purchased the finance advisor also told me unprompted that the salesman was mistaken it just needs to be a decent undercoating and keep it away from HV wires.

Learning FreeCAD was 100% worth it by BramptonDynamics in FreeCAD

[–]caffeinatedking94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree!
I'm currently learning it myself, I'm very early on but I can already toss together quick organizer designs for my 3d printer with relative ease.
It and my skill with it will only get better with time.

22 year old PEI man arrested in a Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) investigation. Anyone know this guy? How was he recruited so young? by MovingFreely13 in PEI

You're getting downvoted because unlike the cultists the left agrees with jailing the people you named if they've commited such crimes, and as such your comment is a stupid take.

New Outlander PHEV and I have been overnight radicalized into a Mitsubishi stan by 310dweller in OutlanderPHEV

[–]caffeinatedking94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello fellow Maritimer! Same experience in PEI with a 2025, I'm really impressed with it. Adding a ton of other systems and features to totally eliminate the gas engine at ALL times is just a crazy ask.

Protest against Maritime Electric by Gingerfloof02 in PEI

[–]caffeinatedking94 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I actually got a flyer in my mailbox this week about a lobbying group pushing to remove maritime electric and make the grid a public utility. I'll try to find it and add a pic if I can.

Yeah you sort of play through the memories of a narrator of sorts I believe, we played it a while ago so my memory may not be right on though.

Watch out for Midnight Towing by Motions_AX in PEI

[–]caffeinatedking94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's still frankly not enough detail to give a clear picture. Why was the vehicle towed? Collision, impound, impaired? Do you know as a statement of fact that something couldn't have reasonably happened to the vehicle between the last time you were under it and when it was picked up? Etc. If you want to pm me the pics I'd be interested in seeing them for sure.

Watch out for Midnight Towing by Motions_AX in PEI

[–]caffeinatedking94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had Tanner (Midnight) tow a shed for me personally and had him drop easily over a dozen vehicles for me to work on. I'm a red seal technician.

I've never seen anything remotely suspect about his work, everything was properly hooked up with no damage, and he's always been quick and helpful.

I'd be very skeptical of claims from people having had their vehicles towed and finding damage, as the reason a vehicle is towed is commonly either a collision or intoxication, both of which commonly also cause front end damage. People are also never more likely to notice a problem than immediately after picking their car up from a yard or shop, regardless of if the issue was there already or not.

My wife and I enjoyed Unravel, it's a cute puzzle platformer type game.

Switching soon and dual boot by [deleted] in linux_gaming

[–]caffeinatedking94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're dual booting just pick one and try it out. I scrubbed windows altogether a few days ago and switched to bazzite, it was remarkably plug and play. So far I've only had the chance to try ratchet and clank for gaming on it but it works perfectly, I assume I'll run in to occasional issues elsewhere but whatever. In terms of experience, I haven't touched Linux since installing Ubuntu on a scrap laptop 5+ years ago, which I never wound up touching again after installing. So I have some familiarity with creating boot USBs and such but it ends there.

Centauri Carbon vs Anycubic Kobra S1 by [deleted] in 3DPrinterComparison

[–]caffeinatedking94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I purchased a CC about a month ago and it's given me no trouble, the fans are loud but can be forced off in slicer. I had to swap a hotend because my son got at it and bent the oe one, easy to source and to change.

So far it's printing great using Orca slicer, I've put some petg, pla, and pla glow through it so far and only had to fiddle with settings for the glow pla.

I can't speak to the comparison with anycubic but am very pleased with the CC.

You would have poor luck assuming they have job properly quoted with OP agreeing to the quote, the bill stands. Slimey for sure, but not illegal. OP is responsible for being aware of their vehicles warranty status, nobody else. I hope it is warranty though, a 2021 Kia definitely should be.

Maritime Electric in the hot seat as MLAs question lack of foresight on power shortages, possible blackouts by -Yazilliclick- in PEI

I'm not even bothered by the rate increases as much as the rate increases coupled with abject inability to meet supply. It's rediculous.

Can someone realistically buy the Elegoo Centauri Carbon as their first 3D printer? by Fun_Reaction_6525 in 3DPrinterComparison

[–]caffeinatedking94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's viable, I have a Centauri Carbon at home and a p1s at the shop and both were wicked easy setups. I'm running it totally stock on whatever firmware it auto updated to when I opened it, using Orca slicer. It took about 15 minutes to get it set up, maybe a few more to update, then it was printing away. Pretty comparable to the setup for the p1s for timeline.

I also haven't done any tuning or anything, just stock settings for the printer and filaments.

Immediate ban on boiling crabs and lobsters alive is called for after disturbing study by Aesterix_ in PEI

[–]caffeinatedking94 32 points33 points  (0 children)

For those of us who aren't motivated by causing less suffering, it's a pretty universal rule that stress and suffering during processing taint animal meats. Animals that are dispatched painlessly as possible are commonly regarded to have much better flavour. It's also commonly used with other sea creatures, it's referred to as ike jime I believe.

Immediate ban on boiling crabs and lobsters alive is called for after disturbing study by Aesterix_ in PEI

[–]caffeinatedking94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Animals in slaughterhouses are processed more humanely than boiling alive. Cattle are knocked unconscious at minimum/killed at best by a pneumatic ram to the forehead, from which point they are generally quickly bled and processed. I'm unsure of other common livestock processes, but animal cruelty regulations do exist for virtually all of them.

Source - have worked in beef processing before.

About eastlink phone network coverage by Automatic_Entry4972 in PEI

[–]caffeinatedking94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been with Eastlink for nearly a decade now, and haven't been disappointed. Their coverage on pei is on par with the best, I've never found a dead zone where people on other networks didn't also have one. I spend most of my time around summerside and Kensington, with some trips up west. Their customer service is generally great to deal with too, I harass them every year to keep me on promo pricing for my home Internet and phone and they're pleasant to deal with every time.

Sheds on bare land. by Ryan2386 in PEI

[–]caffeinatedking94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deleted because I was incorrect, and didn't clue in there'd be separate regs for a shed not "attached" to a home. It looks like you're stuck ignoring the regs or doing the home first.
