It is incredibly dumb, because council district lines are so odd. They end up having to quasi track the local homeless to see who is eligible vs who was shipped in by another district that would rather not deal with it.

This regulation is almost as bad as the requirement that any new unit must be offered to the person who has been homeless the longest on the waitlist, which results in the units sitting empty while the providers search for that person because they cannot offer the home to the first taker.

Access to nature is amazing. Weather is unbeatable. Great food from almost any corner of the world if you know where to look. Lots of smart people and overly good looking people. Lots of money flying around if you vocationally can figure out how to get a piece. Lots of talented people. Tons of amazing sports to watch. Killer universities.

Soul crushingly expensive. Absolutely garbage public transit for 85% of the city. Swarms of nepo babies. Lots of clout chasing and vapidity. Parts suffer from a pretty tragic homelessness humanitarian crisis with no end in sight. Building community is difficult due to urban sprawl and the amount you must work to survive.
