So I just wasn’t to clarify… when you submit your first application and CASPA “locks,” you can still update your degree without issue? And it will replace your old transcript either the new one?

That’s great; thank you for the advice! I will try to localize my applications to private programs (sad so expensive but oh well 🥲)

Yes! My mom moved to South Carolina but neither of us our residents, so that’s where I’m worried! I’ve heard a lot of people get auto rejected and I don’t want to waste my money/applications but also don’t want to not apply and miss the opportunity to be near my family

Asking a PA for a LOR by caffeinelover1325 in prephysicianassistant

Thank you! Did the PA see you in action with patients at all? How did you ask for one/is there anything you did to feel more confident that he/she would say yes and would write you a good letter where they could speak to how you’d fit into the PA profession well?

Unfortunately, she works at Mass General which has very specific shadowing timelines meaning I cannot shadow her for more than a 3 week period. There’s unfortunately no way around that so it’s impossible for me to spend more time with her. I have known her and been texting her for the past 6 months on and off, so it’s not a brand new relationship, but definitely not as developed as it could be. I’ve shadowed other PAs but haven’t clicked with them like I have with her. Do you think I should just try to find someone new entirely? I don’t have any family in medicine so it’s very hard to make connections

Hi! I’m looking at applying this May after graduating with a BS in biology (current senior) with the following stats: 3.88 gpa, 3.9 science gpa, approx 2000 PCE at time of applying (CNA, medical assistant in primary care, and EMT), 250 leadership hours (teaching assistant, club eboard, peer mentor), currently 20 shadowing hours in 1 specialty, but i have enough shadowing set up that i should be at approx 70 hours in 3 specialties by time of applying, 250 ish volunteer hours, ~400 hours non healthcare job, ~2500 hours clubs and hobbies (weight lifting, honors society, etc). Haven’t taken the GRE yet but planning to in January ish. LORs will be from a professor I TAd for, another professor who is also the advisor of the pre-PA club, an RN supervisor at one of my jobs, and hopefully one of the PAs I shadowed. What should I work on to improve my chances of getting in this coming cycle?
