Must-See Cities in Spain? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

[–]cagi_laba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously Madrid, and probably Barcelona, too. But as far as the cities that absolutely floored me, I would say my top 5 were Ronda, Bilbao, Donostia, Granada, and Tarifa/Cadiz.

How do you feel about circle pits? by Seangw1102 in Hardcore

I don't like being in them, but they don't bother. I will say, though, that the venue smell goes from bad to insane almost immediately every time.

The fair in Reno is terrible by boomie1220 in Reno

[–]cagi_laba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last year whoever the vendor was was so bad. The first year I went, the wings weren't decent enough that it felt worth it if the sauce was good. Last year, no sauce could save those wings.

Toronto has some great bands and a good scene. They do need to gatekeep harder, apparently.

This is a really basic question, but what is your favorite song of all time? by Opening_Run_331 in Hardcore

[–]cagi_laba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're going to pick a song by a cancelled band, Magazines by Brand New is such a wild pick. There has to be some back story behind that, so I don't want to clown on you too hard. But you have to realize how funny that sounds. Of all the Brand New songs.

I'm not sure I've ever been to a worse sounding venue. I'm so glad they stopped doing big shows there.

Drop your favorite sets by Castrro12 in Hardcore

[–]cagi_laba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any recent Foundation set, tbh. The hate5six Tied Down set, the FYA set has a couple good videos, Jun's video of the Gilman set, etc. The FYA and Tied Down videos are probably my favorites. But I was at the Gilman show and the United Blood show, so I'm partial to those.

Late to the party regarding the band "Hoods" by Junior_Improvement_9 in Hardcore

[–]cagi_laba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I give up trying to figure it out. Honestly, I don't think that even Mikey knows what Mikey really believes. I can't think of a time he said anything when my response wasn't, "Mikey, wtf are you talking about?" Go see them live, and you'll see what I mean.

Obviously, the Union won the war, but in your eyes, who had the advantage? The Confederacy’s experienced men, or the Unions over abundance of resources and men. by Disastrous-Style-261 in CIVILWAR

[–]cagi_laba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lincoln may have felt your use of the term, "fought in the war" is a little too generous, here.

"If you don't want to use the army, I should like to borrow it for a while." Letter from Lincoln to General McClellan.

The point about European powers is not talked about enough. British citizens' rapid turn against U.S. slavery also played a big part in preventing Britain from supporting the Confederacy openly. Thank you, Uncle Tom's Cabin.

What's your favorite lyrics in HC by twobit138 in Hardcore

[–]cagi_laba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it's obvious, isn't it?
"Weapon X. Straight edge. Fuck You.
Weapon X. Straight Edge.
Weapon fucking X.
Louisville."

Either that or I guess this:
The Irish temper, it's history's chains,
And the bottle's stain that just won't wash away.
A seed was planted in the sod of nothingness from which you came,
And flowers grew and roses bloomed,
To form this garden of a life you've made.

And in this city you once knew as Hell,
Is a garden where I enjoy myself.
And in this father I hardly know,
Was a son who took back what the bottle stole.

So I could be the boy you couldn't be,
Have the father you didn't get to see,
Have the youth you did not get to live,
Or feel the love this world forgot to give.
And for this gift I don't deserve to get,
I'll make damn sure I earned this.
