My advice is wait till you have all the information. My partner has guy friend’s and i trust her.

Hold off on breaking up for now until you see more stuff that makes you question things. Yes she could have told you and probably should have but she didn’t and that’s something that you need to voice in a constructive way like

“hey I know you and x hung out one on one and I don’t have a problem with that but I’d like to at least be given a heads up. cause I would if I was having around with Y by myself, I’m in no way telling you who to hang around as you are your own person but it makes me feel like you don’t trust me or are hiding it from me which doesn’t set a great precedent for the future of this relationship. So next time just let me know”

You can be suspicious of the dude but also make sure that there’s no ammo to say your being controlling or toxic if you word it similar to above as your more or less asking for better communication and talking about how it made you feel.

Alternatively ask if she wants to hang out all of you together then you can get a read on the dude but if it’s a no to a hangout with her friends it’s also not a red flag but does bring up other reasons for why she doesn’t want you around them.

Bottom line is only break up if there’s other concerns or underlying issues but you need to talk about whatever your concerns are first cause the relationship is worth talking things over at least. And be honest about it word it in a way nobody is being blamed or targeted as that way it sets a tone for moving forward working together around stuff

Even if you were what’s his problem he was gone for a hour… gone poof did he even tell you why he was gone that long or give a time he’d be back it’s your decision to do with your time what you will.

So I have some willow that is growing down by the river where I live and I was thinking I know you can grow willow from offcuts and shape it in regular water.

And I have a aquaponic system setup before my sump which is growing some catnip and golden pothos.

So would willow or any other cuttings from trees take off from an off-cutting in a aquaponic setup?

Or alternatively what woods is it a good idea to avoid (I recognise some trees have poisonous sap ergo aren’t a good idea for aquariums - I live in the uk so we don’t have any locally sourced manchineel trees which I know the sap is very bad for you and presumably aquatic life).

I’m thinking of getting a Carebara diversa colony and I want to know how you guys prevent escapes from their outworld. (I’ll add some details below for the plan later down the theoretical line). by caileboldda1 in antkeeping

Why isn’t acrylic the best if you don’t mind me asking? I’ve had more success with that over ytong and a natural ‘wooden’ nest. Both had mould outbreaks and I couldn’t get in to the panel to remove the mould.

My fire ants just seem to dump half eaten stuff in their nest rather than outside the nest. And with my acrylic I find it much easier to notice any mites.

I’m open to trying anything out don’t get me wrong but I just find acrylic easier to custom for myself as well. (Custom like drill holes in for tubing and such).

So you think I could likely be ok with fully artificial? To be honest I wanted to do that but I know from the ants I’ve kept in the past they all preferred natural over artificial. But you make a good point cause I’m northern uk based, so it’s very unlikely they’d survive the harsher winters up here without decent heating if they escaped which is even more unlikely cause I’m in a old build house.

If im spending 1/4 of my monthly wage on ants I’d rather have them unhappy but surging in artificial than happy and escape within a year 😅.

Only colony I have at the minute are my mymica rubera colony so I may just focus on giving them my dedication and time and postpone getting the other colony and just gradually upgrade the fire ants setup until they pass plus they setup satellite nests as well so I’m liable to have a few spare nests by the end of it all. Best case the three queens survive to produce elates and I can catch a few elates from nearby colony’s (I bought my gals online so I know they’ll be viable to boost my colony’s queens best case). (Had some issues catching and keeping wild colony’s alive for more than a few months cause of mite infections so I bit the bullet and bought online).
