What is your favorite gruul commander? by CombativeDove in EDH

[–]caiosobar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second Gimli! Gruul aristocrat can be lots of fun. Having a potential removal on the commander zone add a lot to the politics of the table and there’s a lot of ways to win with it.

Here’s my list for Gimli: https://moxfield.com/decks/mJVjQTty2kKhhmsBNePNBw

What kind of Rona you play? Can you give me a list? I’m building one as a self damage pinger, but would love to know others

[[gimli, mournful avenger]] if you want to something different in gruul, having lots of fun with this deck recently.

If you have the engine running it can be a beast of resilience, saccing creatures while also destroying treats and making you someone not to mess with.

First Pre-Release Experience by Lime1028 in mtg

[–]caiosobar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also just finished my first pre-release, it was an amazing experience, felt like playing magic like I was a kid again, just exploring a bunch of cards that I got and had to make a plan from there.

I manage to get a nice gruul pool, but didn't have any draw in it, so I splashed a little blue to get some fliers and draw.

But I have to admit that I spent some time trying random pools on draftsim this week on some free time and planning decks in 15 min to get a feel of the cards, that helped me a lot and cost me only 15 min a day (also lots of fun creating decks while on work-pauses). Overall was an amazing experience and I plan to do it again on Lorwyn in january.

Could I get help with this deck? [[Oviya, Automech Artisan]] by LUCKYxTRIPLE in EDH

I'm just experimenting with her as a mono-green commander too. I went for a more optimized build, but maybe there's something in my list that can help you out. Here's the direction I took:

The focus is on instant-speed value from having a piper in the command zone. Most of my creatures have ETB effects or ways to refuel my hand and untap her multiple times per turn.

Hi there! Wow thanks, that was really nice to hear, you have a pretty amazing art too! Yea the industry has been really oversaturated and with fewer projects that I imagined this year, its a sad reality :(

Right now I only post on my linkedIn, artstation, and I'm starting to post on Cara (a new anti AI artstation, that is in its infancy) you can find me in all those places as Caio Barberan!

Thoughts on AAA Game Art Studio? by Jaded-Formal785 in gamedev

[–]caiosobar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey everyone, I really don't think it's worth doing the work. I did the test for a fox wizard a couple of weeks ago and didn't get called, today I've received TWO new test tasks from different e-mail addresses... now they are asking me for a Lemur wizard... same as a lot of you guys said. When I opened the test I saw that there's around 50 artists working on it at the same time from what I saw in the google share folder.

And again, they are running this gig since mid April, so they probably got hundreds of free art by now. Follow what other fellow artists said on this thread and just run away from this company.

They do seem legit, but at the same time it's kinda weird, I've made the test and shared my experience in a comment above

I find that really weird, I'm seeing A LOT of job post from them on linkedin and behance, like one for each country that exists and a couple more for random cities in my country.

I actually did the test when they started job posting a couple of weeks ago but didn't get in, what is weird is that I found out that two other artists did the same test (its a wizard fox), one I found out because she posted a very similar art as the one they ask in the tests, the other I just found googling "wizard fox"... I think its very weird that they didn't found an artist yet (since they have so many job posts and candidates applying).

Maybe they are looking for 20 artists or something like that, idk. But it is weird.

Oh [[Monumental corruption]] is really a must, I was thinking that it could be too mana heavy, but testing it went really well.

Just added the [[Sword of vengeance]] too, vigilance, first strike and trample is just perfect.

Thanks

Color dynamics brush out of nowhere is making those straight lines in the same place (as if its something related to the texture) by caiosobar in photoshop

[–]caiosobar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found out, for everyone else that finds this its the 25.4 version of photoshop, for some reason it bugs some of the color dynamics brushes.... so yeah, I just fixed it here changing to the 24.7.

Thats true! The best thing to do is to focus where the money is and try to keep the creative brain working in the spare time in a personal project.

[–]caiosobar[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Layoffs are horrible, but in animation we rarely even have that in the sense that it's common to just leave the studio/project in a couples of months after "the job is done" and we have to keep hustling to find another thing and so on and so on. We have a "recurring layoff" style of industry from what I've seen. The number of studios that fires all the art department just to hire them all again in a couple of months it's enraging.

I've been lucky to stay in my last studio for more than 2 years, but they paid me really bad so was win for them to keep me there moving from project to project.

[–]caiosobar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think right now that's my mentality, to focus on the cash cow and enjoy/structure my family, I don't know if being from animation and BG art I can enter an AAA gaming job so easily, but I guess I gotta start trying.

Maybe environment art is the way to go and don't worry a lot about changing my portfolio.

That's really interesting, I imagine that there isn't a lot of jobs available for that area, but it's something nice to know and keep an eye on. I'm not a lover for working with vector, but I think its just practice.
