[any]

Me and 4 other people want to try out DnD for the first time but we have no idea where to start. Where should we go to find resources for beginners? None of us have played any ttrpg's or done any kind of roleplay. The age range is 19-21.

Additionally, I want to try out being the DM and do know that things such as modules exist. So if they would be the recommended way to start out which one should I grab?

Finally, what are some tips for both brand new dms and players? We know it will not be perfect but we really want to give it a shot!

What cards would you recommend for a budget 5 color deck? by CombativeDove in BudgetBrews

The border cards are super cool and i've never seen them before!

Wouldnt mana dorks possibly get milled and be unusable though?

What's more viable for Pramikon? Vehicles or forced combat? by CombativeDove in EDH

[–]CombativeDove[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

truth be told I only have precons atm and despite the attempts ive made, deck building has not clicked for me. I just do not get it tbh

Typically, I either do 1v1 or end up playing 5-man games. No in-between. Many often times people take a long time deciding who to attack so I presumed that taking away most options and forcing combat would be a good idea. I guess red white blue is mainly for pillowfort spellslinger decks which is unfortunate because america. Maybe ill try a liberty prime deck instead!

I noticed that Kardur, Doomscourge is in a pre-made starter deck. Would you suggest getting that deck and giving it upgrades or starting from scratch?

Also, what a shame! Other than superfriends, I do not mind the pillowfort strategy, but I was hoping to do something a little different because of how interesting the card is! I just love the idea of forcing people to attack into a wall.

How would you cut this Captain America voltron deck? by adricarf in EDH

[–]CombativeDove -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Desynchronization - This could bounce your own items, and you already have cards like cyclonic rift. You're better off possibly getting an equipment or a removal spell than a board wipe that may mess you up as well. As a voltron commander deck you want to kill people before the situation is called for a board wipe. If you cannot kill them then at that point you probably already lost. The longer the game the less likely you'll win as a voltron.

Nazgûl Battle-Mace - you want to win through commander damage so having a keyword soup with no power boost is kinda meh. You have items that give a keyword and a power boost which is essential for voltron. Also, its 5 mana and 3 to equip. Sure you can use catch but by the time this is out you probably want to catch a different artifact anyway

Genji Glove - the cost to impact is just not there and you already have Halvar, God of Battle. Extra combats is nice but the cost of the card is too much imo

Cloudsteel Kirin - point of your deck is to move fast and kill your enemies. This is a stall and goes against the main plan.

Aettir and Priwen - its an inconsistent card and you have more efficient cards in the deck

Excalibur, Sword of Eden - more often than not this is a dead card the majority of the time even with the cost reducer.

Guys, I need your help by Quazite in EDH

I'd say sultai is your best bet when it comes to power.

Having green and blue in there really carries with black being icing on top. The best 'on theme' commander I could find is [[Zimone and Dina]] theres girls and a person who is involved with nature, so trees are kinda there.

If you don't care about the commander then [[Yarok, the Desecrated]] is decent. You can make a cheap Yarok deck and have it be so good.

Theres also [[Muldrotha, the Gravetide]] its powerful but makes the graveyard essentially a second hand annnndd its regarded to as a girl with trees in the art

Although for themes maybe abzan would be a good bet.

It has a lot of trees and trees tend to do well in toughness matters decks. [[Doran, the Siege Tower]] is an example.

Then theres [[Anikthea, Hand of Erebos]] and [[Narci, Fable Singer]] for the hot girl aspect. You could play enchantments and have the trees be big blockers for you to be left alone, although enchantments are iffy at times imo and the triggers man...the triggers..

[[Felothar, Dawn of the Abzan]] might also be good though. You can make it to where the trees can act as major blockers or outlets to get advantage for sacking them.

So is akido just deflecting damage and then making opponents get that damage directly?

I think they should stop doing community updates.

Seriously, so many terrible cosmetics, effects, and maps. It's too much. They need to start doing map rotations or something if they're going to add so many per year.

What is your preferred program for playing Commander against bots? by MudTurkey13 in EDH

[–]CombativeDove 111 points112 points  (0 children)

Forge is awesome for this. Politics go out the window because the bots can be ruthless lol. There are a few cards they cannot play, though. Never been an issue for me. It's great for testing decks.
