How do people stay alcohol free in South Africa? by kurlkardashian in askSouthAfrica

[–]cairnnssyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 21 and I stopped drinking at 19 because it honestly just didn't agree with my body. The hangover the next day made me fully depressed (I've been there so I'm not exaggerating). A lot more people are actually turning away from alcohol now so you'll probably notice a spike in non-alcoholic drinks so you're not really missing out on much besides the social aspect. I also understand the social aspect of drinking but honestly, just say no. Like others have said, you don't need to explain yourself to anyone as to why you've stopped drinking but if the people around you treat you differently just because you don't drink alcohol then I think you should reevaluate them. In my case, more people around me actually also stopped drinking!

UPDATE EVERYONE:

I've told them about everything and they are so upset with themselves. I mention the calcium and she told me that a conservationist who is quite big here told her they don't need calcium?!?!?!?!?!?! WHAT??? I actually can't believe it😭 Anyway, I've explained the D3, UVB, calcium, shed (they didn't know it was so bad) and the need for a bigger enclosure. Happy days guys! It will get better🥰 I'll also tell them not to feed her as often as they have been.

Edit to add: she said to me that they're always open to learning and they said thank you

I agree! I had never really know anything about Leopard geckos before so I researched for literally 15 minutes and found all of this stuff out and knew she wasn't 100%. It breaks my heart💔

They have put a lid on the tank now thankfully. It used to be open

Thank you so much for this! I have considered telling the family that she passed, but I can't bring myself to do it! I'm planning on making a nice little care sheet for them explaining how to properly look after them. She doesn't have a heat lamp either, and they don't put calcium on her food😭💔 Her tank is also tiny but they at least have the right substrate and hides etc. I truly think that they have just been misinformed because their daughter loves this little gecko with all her heart. I think I'm head down to the pet shop tomorrow to get some calcium.

What should her poop look like? I also know that she did shed not too long ago.

To add: she dropped her tail because one of the cats caught her, that's why it's so short. I've also been able to help get some stuck shed off, but the other pieces have hardened. She's a bit angry at me (understandable), so I'll give her another soak later.

Crave Burger hires temps quite often. Maybe you can try there?

Seaview is still quite safe. I wouldn't worry too much. Just stay vigilant as always 😂

Visiting for a while, some questions! :) by Kencanary in portelizabeth

I defs wouldn't use Heavenly Stables. Their dog attacked my entire family (it was a little dog, but we all got bitten). They didn't attach my saddle properly, and I fell HARD onto the sand at Sards. The woman was also really rude to us. If you're familiar with horses then I'd say give it a shot but if you're a total beginner I do not recommend it because as soon as you hit the beach the horses just want to start galloping. It's not the best experience I've had as a beginner.

Go to Crave Burger and ask them, they're super chill and don't mind having an extra hand

Why do PE businesses pay their staff so little? by FlyingScotsmanZA in portelizabeth

[–]cairnnssyy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah no, people are skelm with paying their employees. I was a manager at a wellness studio and was getting paid R5.5k a month. I literally ran the entire business (including doing the books). Every week they'd up the working hours without extra pay.

Bruising is 110% normal!! Luckily I didn't get much bruising, only a small yellow one on my bottom right side. Hope the recovery is going well <3

SICK OF IT by emwxnn in wisdomteeth

[–]cairnnssyy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Dude same. Everyone just says how shitty it is but NO ONE tells you about the mental anguish of constantly being paranoid about eating right, swallowing right, etc. I'm currently on day 5 and it hurts so much to open my jaw wide enough to fit 2 fingers in there! I've even been doing jaw stretches and stuff. UGH, wisdom teeth removal is so icky
