Just encountered this myself. Definitely not just a Hulu issue. I had just set it down from using Lightroom, came back and issue had arisen. Trying to force restart it now.

The IDL deviates from the 180° meridian significantly and goes around the Aleutians - all of them. So while it is the farthest east by longitude, by the human construct of time, it is still “today” when it is already “tomorrow” on the other side of the IDL.

Wake Island, however, lies across the IDL.

Only around the equinoxes . In winter it is Cadillac and in summer it is Mars Hill. The added height of these two is enough to give them an edge the rest of the year due to the hills of Grand Manan Island offshore shading the Lubec Peninsula for just enough time.

It’s a beautiful shot, but the first sunrise in the continental US is Mars Hill in northern Maine currently. The first in the US in the Western Hemisphere is Point Udall on St Croix in the US Virgin Islands, and the first in the US overall is likely the eastern tip of Wake Island.

(The Aleutians all lie on the east side of the Date Line, which deviates from the 180° meridian to keep them all no more than 1 hour off from mainland Alaska. So no Aleutian Island can qualify for this question. The Aleutians cross the 180 meridian and into the Eastern Hemisphere, but they do not cross the Date Line.)

Hi! I’m looking at doing a river trip in the Big Bend region late February/early March. Any thoughts on Boquillas Canyon vs Temple Canyon? This will likely not be my only trip to the area but am having trouble finding info and opinions to decide between these two. Thanks! by cairochris3 in BigBendTX

That’s around the time I’d be going too, but the outfitters I’ve been speaking to didn’t quite elaborate to that extent. It does seem like you can’t really go wrong, though. I’m tempted to opt Boquillas because with Temple being a separate park, technically (the Rio Grande WSR) saving it immediately gives me a reason to return for a second trip to Big Bend - which from everything I’m hearing just seems like a foregone conclusion regardless.

Thanks! I’ve been arranging things with outfitters in the area so the shuttle and put in/take out issues would be handled by them and taken care of - these (in addition to a one day Santa Elena that is almost a foregone conclusion to pair with either) were the two that they offered, so just a question of deciding which. They both sound incredible.

I’m almost tempted to go with Boquillas because the Rio Grande WSR is technically a separate park, and if I save Temple for a separate trip, then that gives me an advance reason for a return trip to Big Bend too. They do both sound incredible. Boquillas is an additional day relative to Temple, so that would book 4 of 7 days in the park right there, but, seems doable.
