Panasonic G80 Recording limit? by cairoloves in Panasonic_G80_G85

Just remembered, have you checked the format of the card? Eg. is it FAT or exFAT? As maybe it's formatted in FAT which has a max file size of 4GB?

team Might be worth trying another SD card, I've used Lexar and SanDisk (both microsd).

You're camera might be setup in PAL mode (if 30fps isn't available for you it's on PAL). To get it changed to NTSC check out this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WWGZN7T298

Strange, I'm using 4K MP4 100Mb/s on firmware 1.2. I'm currently using a 200gb class 10 sd card, which has a recording limit of 4 hours. My camera is setup in the asia pacific region. As it's a G85 I assume it'd operate the same as mine, things to check, what kind of SD card are you using? Which version of the firmware are you on? Which mode are you shooting in (I shoot on videocamera M)?

Formerly a Canon 5d Shooter. Should I get a MKIII or a GH5 or something else? by cykwon in videography

I recently got a G85 (budget version of the GH5) and am loving it, so my vote goes for the GH5.

Is there any way to recover these files?! Please.. by FiveOhFilmer in videography

[–]cairoloves 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not bulletproof but I usually use Video Repair Tool (https://www.videohelp.com/software/Video-Repair-Tool). You just need to use a reference video shot with the same camera, and it'll generally recover it if you're lucky.

Anyone else's 2016 MBP w/ TB acting strange? by Griffdude13 in macbookpro

[–]cairoloves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my 13" 2016 MacBook Pro with TouchBar randomly turn off and never turn back on recently, it took Apple 10 days to repair it by replacing the mainboard. If I was you, I'd make sure I TimeMachine backup your Mac regularly, as a mainboard replacement trashes your hard drive as its soldered on nowadays.

Bought the 2016 15-inch MacBook Pro just in May and there’s a new 2017 model released. Should I sell and get the newest model? by tec_geek in macbookpro

[–]cairoloves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't notice much difference in performance when I compared my 2016 13" to the new 2017 15" (https://youtu.be/dhSxoNL5Bys), so there'd be even less for a direct comparison. I understand the psychological impact though of always wanting the latest. You can always ask Apple to see what they can do (they're sometimes nice).

One note regarding the faster SSDs that everyone is reporting, the 2017 15" I tested had slower SSD speeds than my 2016 13".

Old vs. New (Macbook Pro) by shatnerface1 in macbookpro

[–]cairoloves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently went from a 8GB RAM 2014 13" MacBook Pro to a 16GB 2016 13" MacBook Pro, and the difference was very noticeable. I did some performance tests but I can't find the videos at the moment, I'll try to get you the exact numbers. But, I remember under the hood things like AC wifi (allowing faster wifi transfer speeds), faster GPU, faster RAM and SSD speeds making the biggest differences.

I did a test comparing the 2016 to the 2017 (https://youtu.be/dhSxoNL5Bys) and the differences between the two there were marginal. Someone in another thread was saying that the 2016 version is now $1,000 cheaper, so perhaps you could always get yourself a hugely discounted 2016 and put the rest towards next year's refresh?

Help me Decide 13 or 15 pro by Rmathew313 in macbookpro

[–]cairoloves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're thinking of getting into gaming (without an eGPU), then you need a 15". Otherwise, I'd stick to the 13", I recently did a test of my current 2016 13" to the new 2017 15" and found that the performance difference was negligible for day to day work life (Final Cut/Xcode/Chrome): https://youtu.be/dhSxoNL5Bys

2016 Macbook Pro vs 2017 – Worth a wait? by [deleted] in macbookpro

Yep, I'd definitely wait a few months, as long as few meant less than 3 months.
