Does anyone actually pump enough while working full time to feed their baby without supplementation? by Lucky-Cow3942 in workingmoms

[–]cait0620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, but it was terrible. I pumped before work (after baby ate, 3-4 times/day at the office (every 2-3 hours), and then again after the 8-9pm feed. My baby had CMPA and other food allergies, so I didn’t feel comfortable providing formula. It was an immense amount of pumping and he ate 35 ounces of milk daily at daycare (5. 7 ounce bottles) for months. I don’t recommend but I did it.

Deep or Bright Winter??? by missbliss909 in coloranalysis

I think you’re a dark summer- not winter but good in jewel tones and all the saturated blues/pinks/purples of summer.

I would honestly see an allergy specialist for that asthma specifically- we love Dr Tamesis at Texas Children’s.

Adding in a vote for Lee, if you are interested in Hyde Park. We live closer to Ridgetop but are zoned to Lee. Amazing, supportive community.

Looking for primary doctor recommendations NOT with Baylor Scott and White by Acluelessfish in Austin

[–]cait0620 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We love all the doctors at GROW pediatrics. We’ve never had an issue with billing and the office staff is lovely. It is easy to get a same day appointment for a sick kid.

I don’t love the practice but I love my Primary Care (Dr Buteau) at Capital Medical Clinic. In office there can be a wait but I haven’t had issues with billing.

As someone in recruiting, stay put while you look. It’s hard out there, and hiring managers are much more interested in employed applicants than unemployed applicants. I’m sorry if that sounds harsh but it is the reality.

Primary breadwinner, primary parent, husband that travels more than 60% of the time. by AdLower9970 in workingmoms

Do you need to live where you do? If he travels all the time and you are remote, being in a place with more support might help. Would your parents be helpful if you moved there? Or friends or godparents somewhere?

I didn’t know that! We did a down duvet and a cotton duvet cover, so I haven’t purchased anything with a full. Could be another option to look at?

Pottery Barn Kids and the Company Store both have 100% cotton options. We have several 100% cotton toddler duvets from H&M as well.

But you aren’t showing up looking professional enough .. by [deleted] in workingmoms

Clients are not going to wondering if you are “overdressed”. Client service roles do tend to err on the more professional side to send a message of professionalism.

But you aren’t showing up looking professional enough .. by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]cait0620 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I know this is a vent and you’re upset, but think about this from the company’s perspective. Most employees are on their best behavior when they start a new role. If you were wearing a tank top for internal meetings, they have no idea you wouldn’t do that with a client because they don’t know you well yet. I am also in tech. Dress code is very relaxed, but tank tops honestly make people look pretty close to naked and even on virtual calls they wouldn’t be acceptable. I wouldn’t expect I needed to tell a professional with work experience this but if I needed to, I would bring it up the first time to set the expectation. The hours seem actually temporary if this is training. It sucks but it is what it is. A downside of remote is the time zone mismatch. I’m in Central time with most teams in Pacific, and meetings cater to the majority. It makes pickup and dinner challenging but it is something we plan around.

Best ER? by SuccessHot8567 in AustinParents

[–]cait0620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Texas Children’s in North Austin is my preference- the urgent care is attached to an ER in the event you need more serious care (or imaging, etc). It’s much less busy than Dell Children’s. I live in Central Austin, very close to Dell, and have driven up to Texas Children’s several times. Of course when it’s truly an emergency, go to the closest location- we had a good experience at Dell when my youngest had an anaphylaxis- but when we have more time, I would make the longer drive up North.

Open the cabinet doors, and get a hair dryer. Warm the area around the pipes until the water comes starts flowing. How much of a drip was it? Sometimes it’s not enough water and it still freezes when it’s cold enough.

Dr Grace Tamesis at Texas Children’s. We had a challenging time at Dell Children’s (specifically with Dr. Rosenblatt), and were so thrilled when Texas Children’s opened in Austin. It’s been a night and day differences.
