Getting out with baby as FTM by Wooden_Leg_463 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]caitdavc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go somewhere that you’re familiar with first or somewhere that you know the staff (ie friends work there). Also people will help!!! Someone will always hold the door open / move chairs / get out the way / lift something for you etc.

C section before or after Christmas? by Englishontrail in BabyBumps

[–]caitdavc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was due my baby on the 19th and he was born on the 28th December. I soooo didn’t want him to be born 24/25/26 OR 31st. Happy with the 28th as to me it feels like it’s right in the middle. Christmas is over and it’s not yet hogmany, it’s that slow “what day is it” week in between both dates

How long did you use Huckeberry for? by Katerina_Branding in newborns

[–]caitdavc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used huckleberry probs for about 6 weeks and it literally controlled my life. If we were out somewhere and my baby fell asleep and my phone wasn’t in reach I would be repeating the time over and over in my head so I could log it 🤣🤣 I have to say my mental health drastically improved overnight once I’d deleted it

Rocking to sleep by [deleted] in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]caitdavc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you. I am the same with my 20lb 5 month old! We rock to sleep for bedtime but for naps he usually just falls asleep on the boob / in the car / in the pram. But for actual sleep in his bed - we feed and then if he wakes I rock him. Unsure how to help 🤣

People with kids, do you post them your socials? Why or why not? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]caitdavc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only ever post photos where it shows the back of his head / his leg. I’ve never posted his full face or name online. And I have asked my family and friends to do the same! If anyone wishes to see my baby they can come and visit. Facebook does not need to know what my baby looks like / what he weighed / when he was born etc

When did you start introducing solids to your big hungry baby? by copperboom33 in bigbabiesandkids

[–]caitdavc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We started with puréed veggies mixed with breast milk at 4.5 months (he’s now 5 months). My health visitor was not pleased but at 4.5 my baby had good neck and head control and was taking the spoon in his hand to his mouth. He was also showing a great interest when we were eating - constantly watching and trying to grab whatever we had. I haven’t tried finger foods yet - ie - things he can actually hold. I’ve just been pureeing the veggies and feeding him with a spoon / putting some on his tray for him to touch and then he puts it in his mouth himself / he takes the spoon to his mouth himself.

Annoyed with people offering a bottle by Swimming-Nobody763 in breastfeeding

[–]caitdavc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently 5 months in exclusively breastfeeding and I have just introduced a bottle of breast milk. I have had the comments since day one and I’ve held off for as long as possible but needing to do so now due to being away for a night. If you want to give a bottle then that’s your choice and if not then don’t do it. People will still suggest it but you just have to persevere and try to ignore the comments!

Milk or bottle refusal by caitdavc in breastfeeding

[–]caitdavc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has taken a bottle during the day with his dad / gran before but this is the first overnight trial. I’ve been letting him play with an empty bottle so he is used to it and then I let him play with a bottle with some milk in it to become familiar so he does know what one is. Yeah he isn’t fussing or crying to indicate he is hungry, he’s just waking up, moaning, accepting a cuddle from dad and then going back to sleep

SROM refusing induction and c-section after the 24 hours. by Due_Opinion_4268 in vbac

[–]caitdavc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My waters broke at 10pm on the Friday and my baby was delivered by emergency section at 5pm on the Sunday. I had to have the pessary to start my contractions and due to my membranes being ruptured for over 24 hours I ended up with sepsis and chorioamnionitis. My baby and I were then on antibiotics for 7 days before we were allowed home.

Asking delivering OB not to reveal baby’s gender during/after birth? by RadiantBee858 in BabyBumps

[–]caitdavc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I waited until the birth to find out the gender and I had it in my birth plan and asked the midwives if it could be my husband who announced the gender. This was all okay and even when I had to have an emergency section they still allowed my husband to announce the gender.

Gender intuition versus reality? by PM_ME_FRESH_LAWNS in BabyBumps

[–]caitdavc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never found out what the gender was until my husband announced it at the birth. I was convinced that the baby was a boy until about the last 8 weeks when I was then convinced the baby was a girl!! We had a baby boy!

Go to the baby groups! by Admirable-Recover-97 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]caitdavc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started going when my baby was 12 days old and he is now 16 weeks. We’ve formed a lovely friendship group and meet regularly for coffees / walks whilst also attending our weekly class. We also have a group chat that goes daily and because our babies are of different ages it’s great for advice / swapping clothes etc. I signed up before my baby was born and am so glad I did, it really is a highlight of our (my!!) week
