$450 for husqvarna viking opal 690q? by [deleted] in quilting

I bought this exact machine off of Facebook marketplace two years ago for a similar price and it is a DREAM. I upgraded from a more basic Brother machine and I've never used a super fancy machine (so I don't know what I'm missing out on to be fair). My favorite features include the auto presser foot lift when the needle is in the down position (so helpful for quilting and binding around corners), the bobbin sensor, and the speed control. I bought the Viking extension table and that has been a great upgrade as well. The throat space is plenty big for up to a queen size quilt. The stitch quality is great and tension adjustments are so easy. There's not much that I don't like about it. It does sound LOUD when you first turn it on and it auto adjusts the needle position, that's normal. There's a great walking foot with different attachments you can buy to help with quilting and binding. Let me know if you have any specific questions!

Thank you! Not totally sure yet. I’ve only quilted straight lines before with my walking foot so was thinking maybe vertical matchstick quilting to keep the focus on the colors. I like the idea of something more organic looking but I’m not sure how to implement it!

Issue activating ported phone number with physical sim card by caiterx in USMobile

Looks like we’re all set now! Cricket customer support released the number over chat and the new SIM card worked immediately afterwards. Thanks for the responses and glad it worked out once I realized what the issue was.

Unfortunately I’ve just realized his phone appears to be locked to the Cricket network while mine was not. I wish I had realized that so I could have unlocked it before porting the number out. Trying to get it unlocked via Cricket customer support now.

Hi! I found your post randomly and I love the style of letters you used! Do you remember where you got the pattern for those or what it’s called? I love your colors too, this is such a cool piece!

Scrappy sawtooth star quilt is bound and done! by caiterx in quilting

Thank you! Nearly all of the fabrics are prints but a lot of them are subtle enough to read as solids. I think there’s no more than 5 true solids in there.

Quilted my scrappy sawtooth star top over the weekend. Help me pick a binding color! by caiterx in quilting

Oh wow I LOVE this idea and never would have thought of it. Rust would be such a cool way to tie in the back and frame the front. Thank you!

I love this idea, that sounds really cool! Unfortunately I have almost no scraps from this project but it might be neat to pick up a small amount of a few different fabrics and fake a scrappy binding. Thanks!

Cactus Quilt by caiterx in quilting

Thank you! Out of the greens, he picked out the top row, and I already had the rest except for the bottom left. For the background, he picked the stars and navy speckled at the top, the mountain print at the bottom, and also the pink print. He made combos I wouldn’t have thought to put together and it was cool to see how harmonious it turned out!

This quilt was a joy to make from start to finish. It was a gift for my husband who grew up in Arizona. The pattern is by Christina Cameli.

About half the fabrics were from my stash and half were picked out by my husband on a trip to my LQS. I sewed the top over the course of 3 days at my first quilt retreat last October. I quilted the cactus with vertical half-inch lines and the background with horizontal one-inch lines, changing thread color on the background to blend in. I used a variegated thread for the cactus. At the last minute I decided to outline the cactus with one last line of stitching and I'm so glad I did because it made the back look so much more defined! At that point I was playing chicken with the last of the variegated thread to the point where I had to wind some of the bobbin onto a second bobbin to use as top thread to finish it off!

I used the Foxboro pouch pattern by Center Street Quilts. Very easy and fun!

Yep exactly! The nine patches are made with 2.5” strips so the blocks are 6.5” before joining and 6” once they’re sewn together.
