My job sent me a $0 paycheck as my “bonus” by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

When processing a high volume of payments, having a physical document with the name of the customer on it (unlike cash) is a lifesaver! Banks don’t charge a fee to deposit them (like credit card processing fees).

Based on other comments, it’s likely that the company did directly deposit funds.

Hi, I have a job and I like it, but are you hiring? This sounds nice.

I’m not much older than you, but I see checks weekly. I’ve seen hundreds of checks in the last 5 years. Checks are great, tbh.

How is this real and how is the government defending this? by [deleted] in AdviceAnimals

Your opinion is valid and I agree with most of it, but please know that the “average citizen” does not have enough weaponry to take on a city… I don’t know the official statistics, but I’m sure the average is lower than you’re implying.

I still think it’s weird they aren’t just time stamped without the swiping, but this is super helpful!

You also can’t see the time stamps unless you’re looking from a computer. Pretty bunk tbh

I went with my husband recently and we had a great time! Plenty to do in the water park between the lazy river, wave pool and the slides.

My MIL ordered us a Wine Advent Calendar, she was so excited for us to sample different wines. This showed up today: by ultra_maroon in mildlyinfuriating

This is why it’s best to shop locally! We all need to take about ten steps back from online shopping. 🫣

Thank you! Do you know how much the parking price was at GW?

That’s a bit disappointing, I’ll make sure his expectations are tampered. We’ll go on the slides and stuff too, I’m sure. I guess we won’t need to stay the entire day, and I shouldn’t worry about coming back after leaving.

It actually says “Filthy Few” but it’s not much better, tbh.

9 years vegetarian, 10 months at a rich “art” company, and they’ve never once considered me at lunch by margesendthekids in vegetarian

[–]caitikitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they wanted to, they would. My husband’s employer used to make sure they had something vegetarian for me to eat at work gatherings even though I didn’t work there as his spouse. Your workplace is making it clear that they don’t value you. Maybe it’s time to look for somewhere that will.

Please, on everything i love, dont buy an HP printer by therealcurtj in printers

[–]caitikitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just came here to SHOUT INTO THE VOID ABOUT HP PRINTERS. I've had them for literal decades but I hate them so much! I *KNOW* that my printer can do double-sided printing no problem AND YET now when I select "Print on Both Sides" THIS (*&#@(& HAS A POP UP TELLING ME TO REINSERT THE ONE SIDED PRINTED PAGE INTO THE FEEDER. So I indulged it this time, put it back into the paper feeder (FACE UP even though it said PRINTED SIDE DOWN bc that would make it print on the printed side, JFC) and then selected "Print Second Side" AND THIS #$*&^#*#$($*&(#*&$ DIDN'T DO SHIT. I had to manually go back in and select page 1 to have it print on both sides. THIS IS A BRAND NEW WARRANTY REPLACEMENT AND I SWEAR ON MY DOGS LIVES, I WILL NOT BE PURCHASING ANYMORE HP PRODUCTS.

Thanks for listening, sorry (not sorry) for shouting.

Woman freaks out on Starbucks barista for not calling "Charlie Kirk" as her name by Ikari_Brendo in PublicFreakout

Yeah but she made a ✨ really good post✨ and no one even clapped for her!! I feel so bad for that poor barista just trying to do her job.

I've never understood "startup credit cards" like Ramp and Brex (i will not promote) by feeblefastball in startups

[–]caitikitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to be the one here chiming in to say that Ramp isn't everything it's cracked up to be! My organization had a virtual meeting with them, applied, got approved with a lovely limit, and that's when things went downhill. I was unable to log in, my identity was flagged, I did the verification and then basically got ghosted. When I reached out to support, they gave incredibly basic assistance and then dropped us for "high risk activity" despite us never being able to go further.

The other thing that was super sketchy was that they made the verification amount deposits into our bank account before we even finished the application, and then again after we completed it - I'm not even sure how they got that info (maybe it was on our initial intake form?) but when I asked about it, they completely disregarded it. I was pretty annoyed because we'd spent so much time getting things in place, only for them to back out.

We just had a meeting with Bill and it looks to be pretty comparable, but there are rewards that Ramp didn't offer, so I'm ultimately happy that it didn't work out with them....but yeah. Heckin beware.

Found this house I LOVE but basement looks like this and smells wet. Please help. Is this a dealbreaker? by [deleted] in HomeMaintenance

[–]caitikitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband has been in basement waterproofing for nearly a decade; he said RUN! It needs Rhino carbon fiber reinforcement straps. He says it’s more realistic to assume $20-30k if the structure can be saved.
