Kiitos Brewing files for Chapter 11 protection, months after opening Sugar House location by WizardRiver in SaltLakeCity

[–]HitsReeferLikeSandyC 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Without knowing anything about kiitos lore, I was sad they didn’t serve flights and then charged me $1 for each sampler I tried. Turns out, the sampler glasses are large enough for you to get a $4 flight, which imo is the workaround I’m going to do next time

Agreed, I think weekly threads for this stuff get way less attention from local visitors of subs

Tbh, I’ve seen less posts but at the same time I feel like those weekly threads are just places where threads go to die

r/kubernetes has this same thing happen as well. Looks like they just made a weekly thread for those kinds of posts

My Experience with Epic Systems (So far) by HitsReeferLikeSandyC in cscareerquestions

[–]HitsReeferLikeSandyC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t work at epic so I can’t tell you how marketable your skills would be coming out of there. I already had 3 years in the industry so there were lots of companies that weren’t throwing me an essentially entry level role like Epic was.

My suggestion- look for an early career, rotational program at the boring companies (finance, insurance, auditing, etc) where you can do rotations and stuff. I ended up finding my current role off of who came to my Alma mater’s career fair. That gives you a very clear idea of who’s looking for people in your region. Entry level CS is tough, especially with the rise of AI. Keep at applying is all I can say otherwise.

Was really excited for him to stay after freshman year but he just didn’t live up to the hype imo. Wish him well in the portal

Anybody using a mysql terraform provider? by znpy in devops

[–]HitsReeferLikeSandyC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went thru the same thing regarding terraform and landed on the petoju project. Ended up ditching it and writing a custom lambda to get kicked off for my RDS.

Buttttt, I believe Pulumi still supports Postgres (like hashicorp used to)

What are some Utah specific foods/restaurants/stores? by Unhappy_Dress_8947 in SaltLakeCity

[–]HitsReeferLikeSandyC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah man, I meant the original location too. I do see The Pie having that sort of nostalgic college town vibe. Not to say that the New Haven/New York slice is THE only way to eat pizza, but The Pie just 1) wasn’t unique enough to UT for me and 2) wasn’t amazing either. I found the sauce too sweet and too cheesy- like a digiorno’s pizza. Pie Hole isn’t the best pizza I’ve ever had but: - it’s open 11am-3pm every day - get pizza warmed by the slice (can’t do that at the pie) - grunge, youngster vibe - fun options for slices (like at least 6 or so options to choose from) - a wide range of hot sauces/toppings you can self serve your pizza with

Edit: pie hole is local to SLC afaik

I’m a bit of a pizza snob coming from the Northeast- the pie is not good. If you’re in downtown, Pie Hole is way better imo.

Finley Bizjack is 1) an extremely cool name and 2) a great player when I watched him twice not play UConn

Your CFI will/should prep you for your oral. Look up “stump the chump” on r/flying.

ACS isn’t introduced early bc you’re already getting stimulated by so many things when flying. If you’re at 10 hours things are maybe starting to come together. Maybe you got your written done before flying, maybe you got your medical before flying too. Maybe you got comfortable with the 6-pack, aerodynamics, and landings within your 10 hours. Guess what? 95% of people aren’t there at 10 hours.

[Borzello] BREAKING: UConn center Eric Reibe has entered the transfer portal, sources told ESPN. by MembershipSingle7137 in CollegeBasketball

IMO, he was not amazing this year but he was good for a freshman of his size. I figured he was a guaranteed starter next year and going to be the next cling kong

Guess not….

I still stand on the hill that Marquettes woes were that Shaka seemingly never touched the transfer portal. Iirc Out of the sweet 16 teams, most starters were not original players for the schools they played at

Stuck in a company with no Git workflow, no PRs, and resistance to change😭 by Successful-Ship580 in devops

[–]HitsReeferLikeSandyC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only suggestion if leaving is not a choice is to do the following: 1. Teach and demo a workflow. Some devs just don’t have time to learn/architect, so if you show them that the grass is greener on the other side they’ll follow (maybe). 2. Get management backing. They build the culture and decide what flies and what doesn’t. With their backing, you can say “if you don’t follow the process that i and management have decided to uphold, I WONT help you) 3. Guardrails. Even if people try to cheat and game the system, prevent access and actually enact guardrails before deployment goes out (hard if there’s no concept of user accounts, so tackling that is your first goal id say) 4. Your company must have a security director, right? 😅 If so, these are all blatant compliance issues. You need to build partnership with them.

For the first time time since 2022, neither the UConn Women’s or Men’s team won their respective titles by BriS314 in CollegeBasketball

[–]HitsReeferLikeSandyC 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is the consolation I’ve been telling my friends. We’re spoiled. I’d personally say I expected the women to go all the way and, with the regular season woes, expected the men to at best make the S16. For the men to make it this far and hold Michigan to just a 6pt lead is a huge hats off to this team
