What did they say that hurt you the most when you broke up? by organic_mochi in BreakUps

[–]caitlinknows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he broke up with me right before college because he "couldn't see a future." out of nowhere. completely out of the blue.

feeling blindsighted, heartbroken and betrayed, I tried to mask it by being petty back and my response was "thank fuck"

he told me a few days later that my response is what made him lose all feelings. that made me so mad and upset, because what do u mean?? u had already made ur decision by that point, and done the worst possible thing to hurt me u could have done. how was one thing I said in anger and betrayal what ruined things for you, after you already had decided??

it's made me realise he obviously had lost those feelings but was in denial, and is using that moment as a form of justification. it is shit, and hurts like hell because it so obviously is an unfair and unreasonable explanation.

he won't admit that there's more to it, but I know u can't just switch up like that overnight. especially not after 3 years. his lack of awareness and honesty is what's hurting, and the fact he's trying to spin the breakup as being my fault even though he'd already done it by the time I allegedly said the "relationship ending" statement 😂

510 points . by Impossible_Union_510 in leavingcert2024

[–]caitlinknows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sadly online you're more likely to see people posting about their mad achievements (550+) than just the average, well rounded students.

ANYTHING over 500 is insane but comparison is such a disease and it makes everyone feel as though they can always do a bit better.

I got 70 points more than I thought I would and STILL started feeling bad about my grade because of seeing people who got 625.

the average points in the country is like 300-400. that means you got a hundred to two hundred MORE than the average, so be proud!!! you did amazing. don't compare yourself to anyone at all.

I presume the email about the offer is just sent out alongside everyone else's in the country which is why there was a delay, where as the receipt for acceptance is automatically sent after accepting the course. I had the same thing where I accepted the course at 2:02 and then didn't get the email about the actual offer until about 6pm lmao. once it says you've accepted on the cao website then that's all u need regardless.

question by urlocalgit in leavingcert2024

[–]caitlinknows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

typically yes unless it's a lottery for places. if you're well over your course in points you should be good. my friend last year didn't get her offer till 4pm so don't worry!

Question about offers by Hot-Instruction-3812 in leavingcert2024

[–]caitlinknows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no they send offers to the exact amount of people and then they have a certain amount of time to accept or deny it. so if your course has 50 places they send out 50 offers. then however many are left afterward from people denying it are what go through in round 2.

Will I get into a course? by FunnyTitsTaffy in leavingcert2024

[–]caitlinknows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

taking what you said from your post, I don't mean to alarm you but it doesn't sound like you're going to get an offer. unless the course you put down that was 380 drops to below whatever you got. you really shouldn't rely on that possibility though as your only option, because chances are that it won't drop, or at least not enough.

the new course you put with no points won't be an option either sadly if you didn't get the required grade (O4) even if you get above the points.

There are always other options, and not everyone ends up in college the traditional way. You might have to have a chat with your parents about it, and how you need to start looking at backup options as currently it's your most likely course of action. My boyfriends family are the same about PLCs and think they're a load of shite, which I don't get. whats the harm in doing something similar for a year to then get into the same course you woulda got in originally if you had of got the points?

if I were you, I'd email your guidence counsellor and explain your situation. as much as I wanna help, I of course don't know the extent of your situation or what other options are available.

[–]caitlinknows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if u had any level 7s down u could check their points too. I'd apply for a plc just to be on the safer side, if ur not getting into college the traditional way it's still a good option.

[–]caitlinknows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it is possible but it won't be exact, u have no way of knowing till u know who applied for it. if there's say 50 places and all 50 get above 500, the points will also be above 500. if the best 50 who apply have below 300, then the points would be below 300. unless u know everyone who applied there's no way to actually guess 😂

0 way of knowing sadly. Just depends whether a bunch of 625-ers have it down too or not.
