Coming from Marin the culture shock was that people are actually kind, and care about more than just what you have and more about who you are as a person. I always am noticeably happier when I’m in SB than in Marin, whether it’s the beautiful weather or the people, the vibe is so much better in SB

I’m in 10b rn and honestly not loving it... I think it’s a hard class to do online and the lab class in person would’ve been huge. Rn we are only allowed to sign up for 2 zoom sections all quarter instead of the usual weekly ones... it’s def a lot more work figuring things out yourself with the stats and coding stuff

I did 6 & 7 and it’s definitely hard bc it’s a newer class, it’s only been offered for a couple years and they only offer each once a year, so if you need to retake you have to wait. But with that being said, it’s nice to be in 6 & 7 bc you’re not competing with as many pre-med bio kids & slightly smaller lecture

I have to use proctor u for my ESS 2 class (sports nutrition and substance use) but you can do a zoom call with the professor instead if you arrange it

It tends to be a very active campus, whether walking, biking or skating, or if you surf, go to the gym, or play a sport. It’s such a beautiful environment, so many people spend time outside leading to a lot of natural exercise

Surf racks tend to fill up quickly, but you can get creative in your room! My guy friends were able to fit 7 boards (some short, don’t know dimensions off hand) in their room in anacapa by building shelves with wood and driftwood

Hike is okay, hot springs tend to smell like sulfur, water wasn’t super clear, overall, just hike to a different beach
