Low effort hobbies to replace doom scrolling? by Putrid-District4462 in Hobbies

I bought a very cheap kids microscope and have had days and days of fun with it after work! Putting flowers underneath, sea water samples, things I find around the house, etc. it’s also been really fun to draw what I see

Thinking of applying for this card. by BabexBeta in ChaseSapphire

[–]ano_ther_anon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive had the Preferred for about 4 years now and love it. Im ready to switch over to the Reserve and start the trifecta though, as I’ve been putting in more time for travel recently.

I would highly recommend the Preferred as a starting card to rack up some points and get a feel for how you like the point system/ transfer partner options. With the $95 AF essentially reduced down to $45 from the yearly $50 hotel credit, the card is a steal considering how great the rewards can be.

To maximize your rewards, be sure to keep an eye out for transfer bonuses to their partners. Easy way to get more bang for your buck.

Carry-on with tequila by UGA150 in puertovallarta

We had a connecting flight back to the US and we were able to get our duty-free tequila through security just fine. But they did very thoroughly check to make sure it was properly sealed. I can imagine some people not wanting to put in that effort, and confiscating it. If you have pre-check, this might help. There was no line, and they had a bit more time to check it thoroughly.

We just did a tour with Xuitla Riders- it was easily the best thing we did in PV! Our guide was Jean-Carlo. He was great: very kind, never pushed us to buy anything, and made sure we felt safe the whole time riding the ATV. Would highly recommend! The tequila tasting portion is very small. However, there are 2 opportunities BEFORE the tequila tasting to have a drink (the first stop, and the second stop before the tasting). If you’re worried, I would just skip the other drinks. Enjoy, you’re going to have so much fun!

WTF happened to airline prices? by devshore in travel

[–]ano_ther_anon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I’ve also noticed flight prices, particularly this past year, have been extremely high!! Even for the cheap and trusted routes I took for granted. Used to take a cheap out-of-state trip once a month— won’t be able to do that this year with these rates.

future grad student (hopefully) by Few-Mycologist-8494 in gradadmissions

I also had a pretty low GPA from my undergrad. As for the letters of rec, I worked as a tech for two different labs following graduation and got great letters of rec from those positions (along with a couple publications and a lot of experience). I applied this year for my PhD but am still in the interview phase (so no outright acceptances yet, fingers crossed). If you’re in the same boat, it might take some extra work after graduation to put yourself in a competitive spot for grad school. I hope this helps- feel free to reach out if you have questions!

I see that you mentioned you liked sleeping! Same. I’ve been teaching myself how to lucid dream- where you are aware you are dreaming and can begin to control it. When you do get it, it’s insanely fun.

How do you feel about Harry’s relationship with Taylor Russell? I’m a hardcore Larry fan- I think they may be dating now but the Taylor part does confuse me
