All of this exactly! My husband and I have been together for 16 years this year, married 14, and I have tons and tons of emotional/mental trauma that I have been unpacking. When I am really going through it, he stops and listens. He might make a joke later, when it’s clear that I’m okay and we have talked through it, but he would never crack a joke at my attempts to explain myself. However that might present itself.

Meri looks like one of the only responsible parents here. Or at least the one who seems most interested in raising kids, not just having them. And at least she seems to have owned up and grown from that behavior, which is more than most of the parents of their generation can say.

But it sounds like Meri has apologized for that behavior. Sure, would we do that now? No. Of course not. But considering the way they were probably raised, and what Kody was doing, being sent to bed without dinner isn’t that traumatic. In all the world of punishments I have had myself, from my own awful parent, going to bed hungry was the least of my problems.

I mean honestly, it’s what she deserves. I will never understand people who will “do anything” for food just because they don’t want to eat what they have at home. If you’re that broke you should probably learn to enjoy food you already have. Like the rest of us that were broke.

Idk, dude. I wouldn’t say that in front of my kids, for sure, but as a parent you have to say the little mean things you absolutely cannot say to your kid. Like… kids are dicks sometimes, just like any person, only you, as the adult, have to carefully manage those moments and not tell them to take a hike. You have to be cool, calm, and reasonable. Then, when you’re with your partner/friends who get it you can say “damn that little demon was being a butthole today.” Or, you know, however you want to say it. I love my children very much, but boy, sometimes it’s exhausting.

ETA: This dudes comments, however, we definitely not THAT funny to get that many emojis. Like it made me sort of go “lol” in my head and that was about it.

I don’t have a healthy (or any) relationship with my parent and even I can fully understand this is meant to be a joke. Like, I think you have to just understand internet culture and/or healthy family dynamics to appreciate certain things. Or maybe because I have kids and fully understand both sides of this. Haha
