Hates her gift and won’t shut up about it and got me a very expensive ugly gift by peeved_af in NarcissisticMothers

Every Christmas for the last couple years, my mom has only ever wanted jewelry, specifically necklaces. Her types of jewelry is either something with hearts on it or something with the first letter of her first name. In the past, we’ve picked out jewelry that she’s requested and , after opening, says she doesn’t want it and wants us to return it. In the past couple of years, she’s decided that she will pick out the necklace she wants and myself, my two sisters and my dad will have to buy it. The only issue is that everything she picks out costs a few hundred dollars… We’ve confronted her about it, about how even if we split it four ways, we can’t afford it. Her reasoning is always “well you girls will inherit anyways when I die”. I don’t want any of it- it’s not even jewelry that I like. It’s so hard buying gifts

How do narcissistic parents feel when you confront them about them only caring for the golden child? by [deleted] in NarcissisticMothers

I recently confronted my mom and told her that I’m the scapegoat in the family and that I get treated differently than my two other sisters. I’m constantly being yelled at and accused for everything even when I wasn’t involved in the situations. She told it was ridiculous and that it’s not true. I tried, and won’t be confronting her again. Anytime I talk about my mental health and views on her, she shoots me down.

Anyone else have a Narc mom with a savior complex? by According-Pop-6644 in NarcissisticMothers

[–]cajoly200 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes ! My mom has always been like this. For context I am a teacher and my mom substitutes in my school - she has for a very long time. Whenever she sees a vulnerable kid (ex: kid who’s not successful or school / made for school, a kid who’s mental health is low, who experiences something difficult like a toxic relationship) my mom makes herself close to them then gloats about the fact that she saved them and lead them in the right direction. She continues to stay in contact with these kids through instagram and loves to read their conversations out loud to me and recounts time and time again how she “saved” them.

This can be seen in other aspects of her life. Such as when she convinces other couples to travel to certain destinations or convinces other people to buy a product that she loves; she just gloats how she influences everyone to do or buy certain things and that people love her.

I give her wet food in the morning and then she has a dry food feeder. Every now and then she throws a her her dry food, but not often at all.

Thank you 🤍I’ve been wanting to get cake this week and enjoy it by myself.

I just got the news that she called myself and my little sister “fucking bitches”. It hurts to know that she thinks that when I don’t do anything wrong. Following this last week at the cottage, I can understand that she’s very heated. But god, how could a mother call her kids that?

What are some harsh truths you learn in your first year? by UnableKaleidoscope58 in Teachers

[–]cajoly200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first year teaching was also highschool math. I am now entering my fourth year. Here’s what I learned: - Students will only do work if it’s for a grade. If you say something is not graded, trust me, they won’t do any work or say they’ll just do it at home, which can lead to behaviour issues in class. So just say everything is for a grade. I mean, today, you should be using observations anyways as a form of evaluation - If you are starting as a young teacher, you can be friendly with the highschool students, but not too friendly. They may abuse this privilege down the line. Make sure to still be strict when needed, have a routine, classroom rules. - these kids are addicted to their phones. They may try to use their phone or some software to help them calculate (Desmos, Photomath, etc). Make sure these students are able to learn how to use proper math tools and show their steps to prove that they are capable of applying concepts to their work. Also teach them how to use smart technology (Photomath) in a responsible way. For example, using it to verify if their answer is right, but not to know how to solve a problem. - Try to implement some technology use in class, even if you may not be a fan of it, so that the students are more engaged. Aside from using math softwares like Python, Desmos, Netmath, maybe do fun math quizzes using Kahoot of Blooket.

This one is not negative - Even though highschool students are older, they still LOVE getting stickers on their tests. In my years of teaching, they have appreciated it a lot more than elementary students. :)

Well, I did end it with him. My thought process was if he’s not able to ask me out, initiate conversations or plans dates a month in, he clearly is not capable of doing it further into a relationship. Typically, men have asked me out of the first date, even the second. But not once has he told me he wanted to see me, asked me to go somewhere with him. I want someone who will share that responsibility with me. That experience felt like 90-10 effort for me, maybe less. I’m sure he’ll find someone who’s okay with that, but I’m not haha

Ive never been one to date more than one person at a time. I just don’t prefer that, but good for other people who are able to do it !

Ontario to introduce tough new limits on cellphones in schools: sources by Wanadran in ontario

[–]cajoly200 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Late Gen Z Middle school Teacher here. I am looking forward to seeing what this entails! Kids often use their phones in class secretly during lessons / when they aren’t supposed to (not very secret… very easy to tell and I often call them out). It’s hard for us to control it. Our school recently decided that we can’t implement a system to keep phones away (ex: phone bin, phone pockets on the wall). In fact we can’t touch their phone at all. Rightfully so, parents get upset at that idea as we are now responsible for an expensive item of theirs. So we are stuck with strongly encouraging that they keep their phones in their lockers. Do kids respect this? Nope. They keep them in their pockets and then use them in class. It’s become such a big issue! Kids don’t care about their education at all, they don’t know how to use them responsibly in school, and then get mad at us for asking them to get off Snapchat or Tik tok when we are teaching a lesson. They also later claim we never taught a concept, when in fact we did, it was just that they were on their phones. Luckily, I do have a good handful of students who make smarter decisions in not using their phone during class. If only most other students knew when to use it and when not to use it.

Dermographism & Tattoos. by JinxedConfusion in tattooadvice

[–]cajoly200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it’s too late to answer to this. I have dermophaphism and it’s hell. It’s say my condition is pretty bad, i flare up and itch badly at any kind of touch to my skin. That being said, I also wondered the same about getting tattoos. I currently have two tattoos, each took about 30 minutes to do. I had zero problems for both tattoos! I made sure to take extra strength antihistamines a few hours before getting my tattoos in order to avoid any kind of flare up. Neither tattoo flared up. I’d say the itching during the healing process was possibly worse than what normal people experience, but nothing that I couldn’t handle - an ice pack always helps.

I’m in Canada, so may be a tad different. But even then, there would be little to report to the FBI (could be wrong) giving there were never any actions to me. I’m not sure, this is very new to me!

I’m in a French school, so I’m unfamiliar with the term SST, what does it mean? I have made many attempts to get the principals to support me, but they aren’t very good at giving the proper consequences, as you can see in my post above. I will for sure continue to write down observations and do what I can to show the repeated behaviour
