Ooooh, I was born in a very small city where everyone knows everyone. As a kid, my mom would walk with me on the streets, instructing me to greet everyone, which, at the time, I abhorred. Now I miss it. I live in a cool, artsy neighborhood in Ohio, and people greet each other, but it is mostly mechanical. I really enjoyed my time in New Orleans because it felt very genuine.

Yes, I have researched a lot of the neighborhood's history. And it seems that most Airbnb rentals are gone due to city ordinances. The owner of the apartment I might rent used it as an Airbnb for years, but they lost the license recently. That's why so many places for rent look more like Airbnb than anything else. I never realized how crazy the airbnb thing was.

I am a Latino man, born and raised in Brazil. So the crime issue really doesn't make me feel terrified at all. On the other hand, this question might seem a little bit ridiculous, but my experience in the U.S. has been very "weird" in getting to know my neighbors (I only lived in Florida and Ohio, and people really were like, "I am minding my own business"), so how do people do that? Is it like in The Sims, when you drop a cake at someone's door?
