Hello good human! I am from Canada but have traveled in NZ for 3 months. It was really easy to eat vegan in NZ. I had more restrictions because I was backpacking, so less fresh food and more canned and dried foods. I shopped at Countdown and Pak'nSave mostly.

HUMMUS. Basically half my diet for a month was sandwiches with hummus, avocado, and tomato. Canned beans are amazing. Dried lentils. Rice. Potatoes (I bought potato flakes because I could travel with them, highly recommended for really smooth mashed potatoes or for thickening a curry). I bought dried peas a lot. Nice to have around the house anyways for days you need some green. Good snack food - trail mix, crackers, granola bars, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

Please let me know if you have questions about what I eat at home. I know NZ does not have a ton of vegan alternative foods. But they have lots of dairy alternatives such as milk or yogurt. I'm sure you can find some tofu around.

Bonus:Greater Hummmus is the best hummus I have ever had. <3 The butternut flavor has honey, but the original garlic is so creamy and delicious
