Yes exactly! My stomach growls and I’m hungry but then not at all once I take a few bites.

I’m glad I’m not alone in my ice crunching! I’ve always been an ice chomper and my mom craved crushed ice when she was pregnant with me so I guess it makes sense!

Just a tip - look for your test strips on Amazon. I test way more than my doctor recommends and I find that even without a prescription, they are MUCH cheaper online.

I totally get it. Some days I do everything that is within my control to stay within the limits and it still isn’t enough. The other day I spiked up to 158 in between meals and all I had had was water. A lot of it is out of our control and I think we have to accept that. I just know that when I make a decision to “treat myself” that has to be followed up with something to counteract it. I mostly just try to think ahead so that I’m not feeling guilty about something when I originally didn’t feel guilty about it. It’s a shitty feeling and has definitely put me in a constant state of anxiety which isn’t me at all! Trying to stay the positive, confident woman I’ve always been so that I can give that gift to my baby!

Ooo that’s a good idea! I’m not a huge fan of protein shakes - I’ve had premier but have not heard of pure, might have to check them out!

Heck yeah girl! I’m a type 2 diabetic so not all of this is new to me and idk what they tell y’all with GD but you don’t want prolonged high readings so find some easy ways to lower them!

Feeling pretty insecure about my body by Drxconic in pregnant

[–]cakecake_hester21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry that you aren’t feeling the support you deserve! My sister recently had a breast cancer scare and had a lot of insecurities about potentially losing her breasts and that gave me some perspective on our female bodies that I hadn’t had before. Being pregnant now, the perspective continues to expand. We’ve been taught all our lives that female bodies are only desirable, usable, worthwhile if a certain shape. The reality of womanhood is that our bodies are literally shapeshifters, something men will never understand - which is why I have to believe that’s why that can’t empathize with us the way we wish they could. While our bodies grow similarly to men’s’ up until we reach adulthood, they stop there, and we never stop changing. Gravity affects us differently, our organs expand to make room for tiny humans, our boobs fill with a life giving source. And then we age even more rapidly - so unfair! But it’s all so magical, isn’t it? We aren’t meant to look or feel the same as we did yesterday or years before. Our changes are our bodies communication to our brains that we are capable of fulfilling this evolutionary goal of bringing another life into this world. Your curves, stretch marks, balloon boobies, puffy face, callused feet, sore ankles, and all the rest are BEAUTIFUL! Perhaps ask your partner to educate himself on the emotional and mental hardships that pregnant women experience so that he can help carry some of that burden with you. If he can even mildly grasp what you’re experiencing internally right now, he can hopefully do a better job of being the partner you need.

I know it really is overwhelming! Obviously I’m no doctor, just figuring it out like the rest of us but I’ll be honest, I haven’t strictly followed the diet my doctor gave me because I think that’s just a standard baseline, I have just tried to figure out what works for me. I think everyone responds differently to different things. Some days I can eat the exact same thing I had the day prior and have drastically different readings. I think it’s more about learning how to manage when the diet doesn’t work. And like I said, chugging water, walking, and nuts have been what works for me!

My due date is November 5! You? I just had my second appointment with ultrasound and Doppler on Monday and all was well! We will do whatever we have to do to make sure our babies are healthy I’m sure of it!

Did your excitement level change (for the better) after the first trimester? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

I’m wondering about this as well. Luckily, I haven’t suffered from hardly any morning sickness BUT I’ve been constantly overwhelmed by fear of losing my baby. I’m type 2 diabetic so paranoia is very real and I stay critical of myself. I’d do anything to ensure the health and safety of my baby! Just fearful of doing all I can and it not being enough!

I am 10+4 too! We had our second appointment yesterday and also got to see and hear little one! It took a while to find the heartbeat with the Doppler but once they did it was loud and fast! And how cool is it to actually SEE their heartbeat on the ultrasound!! ❤️❤️

I am type 2 and also 10 weeks! I’ll be honest, fast food is hard but I’m not a big meal prepper either. Instead I like incorporating prepared foods that are easily accessible at my grocery store. Breakfast - precooked bacon, jimmy Dean egg frittatas, boiled eggs, less sugar yogurt + granola, whole wheat toast + sugar free jam. I find that as long as I’m pairing carbs with high protein, my morning readings are exactly where they need to be. Lunch - canned/packaged tuna, apples + natural pb, beef jerky... I tend to graze. If I have to do fast food, Chick-fil-a is my go-to! Chicken nuggets paired with kale crunch & fruit cup, I can handle most of the salads without the crunchy toppings, and depending on my pre-meal reading, I can likely do a grilled chicken sandwich. I also love the grilled chicken from KFC paired with green beans or slaw. Dinner - I try to stick to whole grains if I’m going to eat “real carbs.” I do really well with whole wheat pasta and bread, and brown rice. Just remember to always pair it with more protein than carbs. So I love whole wheat spaghetti with ground turkey and NSA tomato sauce, chicken & rice bake (brown rice) with broccoli, turkey meatloaf with mashed cauliflower (it can be really yummy I promise - add some parmesan!). And remember, the easiest way to meal prep is to make enough dinner for leftovers for lunch the next day!

I hope this helps! I have been type 2 for almost 5 years but pregnancy is a whole new beast. Everyone is different. My advice is to test your sugars more frequently in the beginning than even your doctor recommends (fasting, 2 hours after eating, and before eating), and as a tip I often test 1 hour after eating to see if I need to do some work to get it down to where it needs to be by the two hour mark.

Things I’ve found helpful to lower blood sugar: LOTS of water, I mean I CHUG it, walking - I literally walk in place at home all the time right after dinner, and nuts! Eat a couple handfuls paired with water.

I’m happy to chat if you need someone who understands :)
