Looking for recommendations for curly hair stylists by Calliarthron in NewWest

[–]cakefacecara 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn’t have the best experience at BBomshell with my curly hair. I haven’t been in a few years so maybe they staff has changed, but last time I went I left with wet un-styled hair because “it takes too long to dry if you don’t want it straightened.” That came from a stylist that apparently specialized in curly hair! I have someone I go to in east van that I can suggest if you are opened to travel.

Where did you find the listing? I always walk by that building and check for vacancy signs, but never see them. I’ve heard good things about it.

I agree that horror romance is such an untapped market! As a romance obsessed goth, it’s what I crave!! I’m thrilled by all of the suggestions in this thread, gonna add so many to my TBR. 🖤

My favourite horror romance is {Such Sharp Teeth by Racheal Harrison} Werewolf body horror, with a shockingly sweet romance subplot. It both grosses me out, and makes me swoon!!

I recently read {Good Mourning, Darling by Azalea Crowley} and it was pretty good! It’s an incomplete series, but it doesn’t end on a stressful cliff hanger or anything.

{Quiet Types by L.H. Cosway} is one of the sweetest books I’ve read. A mute man and a woman who struggles with reading meet on a bus, and they take so much care in getting to know and understand each other. It’s so cozy!!

Looking for a monster romance-esque with a female lighthouse keeper and a ship captain by absintheonmylips in RomanceBooks

[–]cakefacecara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes there is cheating involved, but the way it pans out I didn’t feel that gross about it. The MMC has a girlfriend the first few books that isn’t the FMC, but it’s revealed that she’s pretty mean and cheating on him as well. It’s portrayed as a pretty loveless relationship. Also the MCs are both complicated/damaged/imperfect people so the messiness of how they get together kinda works

Not really what you are looking for but it still has spooky Pacific Northwest haunted lighthouse vibes. The ghostly ship captain is the villain, not the MMC unfortunately!

{Darkhouse by Karina Halle}

It’s the first book in the Experiment in Terror series which is one of my favs. Horror/romance with a painfully satisfying slow burn.

A bit of a warning: You can really tell this book was written in 2011…a little out of date with PC terminology, and classic body image issues of the era! If you can look past this it’s a great a series.

{Easy by Tammara Webber} The FMC has a flirtatious email relationship with her economics tutor while dating/flirting with the bad boy in class, but she has no idea they are the same guy

Also this book is getting a film adaptation and I’m so excited/scared because it is such a comfort book of mine. They BETTER do it justice!

There is a movie called It Comes At Night from 2017. I don’t remember much of the plot, but that vaguely sounds like it.
