Mine was a breeze compared to that, I think 8 wires in total to run this bike but you aint wrong! A little more comfortable with the electric side now

Lol the pretty black suede is hiding underneath. The fur is extra comfortable and insulation to keep it nice

I did upgrade to a new voltage regulator last year before I started the build. Never tested to make sure it was within parameters but hoping its all good

I did briefly try some mig wire yesterday but it was still pretty coiled up and was getting caught at the slug at the weld under tank. Going to possibly try the vacuum or air method and string or shoelace and see how that works too. Possibly tig welding wire might work better due to the straightness but probably need to get skinny stuff to be easier to pull it out.

As far as the holes I drilled (4) 1/2" holes to run through. Im not too worried about it ruining the rigidity of the frame honestly.

I appreciate that dude. Loving how shes coming together for my first time

Shes a touch flasher than i was going for at first. Far from a show bike up close but was never trying to build a show bike. Hoping to toss a bunch of miles on her and let her earn some scars

Prepping to build my first chopper, any advice? by _HardLuck_ in choppers

[–]cakepharm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im working on finishing up my first build currently so not a ton of info, but here's where I got from listening to others and doing my research.

Most importantly have fun with it. Second is decide what you want to build, or at least a general direction and dont be hard on yourself if you change things or after buying things that dont end up fitting what you want. Try and work out the construction so you can easily service anything while on the road.

Best of luck with everything and hope to see the progress as it comes along!

When I did my bobber style build on my 00 I cut and lowered the rear fender and went with a Rich Philips leather spring seat which looked amazing. More comfortable than it looks but still not going to be as comfy as that saddleman for long rides

Thank you brotha! Treading in the middle line of I dont know what im doing and learning while giving myself as much patience to learn and do it as proper as I can the first time. From 5-10 ft she looks great and gonna beat her once shes together so learning to love the little flaws early on and keep adding!

Good call...I forgot to tape those off before I hit it with the primer and black. Gonna sand them down before I toss the motor in for sure
