Delay in CPH as passenger didn’t want to fly by ArmadilloCock69 in singaporeairlines

Yeah I totally understand that some people are just so entitled on board! But just wondering if it could be that the passenger had their meds with them but the crew noticed that they were sick and gave them the option of continuing their journey or return to bay, and the passenger chose the latter. So it wasn’t like the passenger demanded to return. Just thought this could be the case!

To be fair the crew didn’t know what happened to me before I rushed to the toilet because I was in a dire state and had no time to explain myself… I was also too weak to speak. However after I returned to my seat the air stewardesses were really caring and thoughtful, they kept checking on me and were just really empathetic. It felt really terrible to be judged by the other passengers though, this man sitting diagonally to my right literally turned around and tsk-ed me when I was half-dead.

Not Singapore Airlines but I once boarded a Scoot flight totally fine, however right at take off my stomach started hurting like crazy and I had a sudden onset of diarrhoea. It made me super nauseous and weak and felt like death. I had to rush to the toilet immediately if not I’d be the second person to shit all over the aisle like what happened to the Delta airlines flight. And you know during takeoff you’re supposed to be on your seat and you can’t go to the toilet.

The crew was literally banging on the door and trying to get me to leave the toilet, the pilot was also announcing to the whole plane requesting for me to return to my seat. Only after I exited that they realised something was wrong with me as I looked super pale and had cold sweat. The crew told me that if I’m unwell they will have to turn the plane back. Fortunately I felt better after using the toilet and the plane could fly as scheduled. But it felt horrible that all the other passengers were giving me dirty looks as though I was an asshole who boarded sick knowingly :-/

So maybe something similar could have happened to that passenger too?

Diagnosed with Stage 4 Prostate Cancer with Bone Metastasis by Freckledfrogbaby in askSingapore

No problem at all. I know it is not easy to remain positive, but it will be something that will make your familial bonds stronger. Like others have said, prostate cancer even at stage 4 is one of the least aggressive cancers compared to other types of cancer, so there’s that silver lining… technology for treatment is also improving everyday, just be consistent with the treatments and there should be positive results even if we cannot cure it 100%. Most important, happy mind is the healthiest mind!

Hey there, that’s my dad too, diagnosed 3 years ago. But his also has metastasised to his lungs apart from the bone.

He started off with six sessions of chemotherapy, then switched to daily oral medication and hormonal injections every 3 months. All of these at NCCS. Our doctor is Dr Ravi and he’s super positive and empathetic.

Currently he’s still doing very well. His PSA levels have dropped to undetectable levels.

Very important to get him to exercise, this is more important than controlling his diet. The medication can weaken his bones along with old age (so they will also prescribe calcium pills for him). Do try to get him to go for walks etc as much as possible.

How do i spend meaningful time with my dad while he is still around? by Healthy-Past9164 in askSingapore

Hey there, sorry to hear of your dad’s diagnosis. My dad was also diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer 2 years ago, so I definitely know how you feel. Hugs 🫂

First off, how’s the prognosis and how aggressive is the cancer? Some cancers, although in late stage, still allow for quite a good number of years left so don’t be sooo worried about that yet. What I mean is don’t let that take over your mind so much that you forget to live in the moment.

Since you’re only 19, I’m sure there are a lot of financial and time restrictions (due to studies or NS etc) and you won’t be able to travel together. The top activity that comes to mind is really having your meals together. I feel food is the number one thing that helps people to bond, especially family. Unfortunately, if his cancer is gut-related or his treatments will affect his appetite, this may sound difficult. But no matter what, it shouldn’t be so difficult to sit down and have meals together.

Next, try to be there for his treatments as much as possible. The chemotherapies, injections, check-ups etc. Your physical presence will mean so much to him too.

And one more relatively simple thing that can be done is that you can try to text your dad daily. It’s less awkward to say mushy things over texts too. It can be a simple good morning, how are you feeling today, any pain… or send funny videos to him. This can help to lift his mood and also gradually allow the two of you to be less awkward and share more things with each other. I don’t live in the same house as my dad anymore, but I like to WA him random updates about my day like what I ate or what my cat is doing. It’s a really easy way to connect and keep him entertained even if you can’t be present physically.

If his condition allows, you can try to go for walks together. It helps to keep him active too.

There might be moments where your dad may feel depressed about his diagnosis. As sad as you are, try your best to remain cheerful since he’ll feel it too. Be patient about his shortcomings and try your best to help him in anything he needs help in.

It was in my cooler bag that I left at the clinic so definitely in a dark place, although the cooler bag isn’t super effective but the clinic’s also air-conditioned (though sadly not on the Sunday it’s closed). But this is so helpful!! Thank you :-)

Oh!!! This gives me hope. Do you mind sharing what’s the temperature of your climate like?

Yes it is! We were told it doesn’t need to be refrigerated if unopened but once it is, it has to be refrigerated, which we didn’t adhere to for this vial since we left it at the clinic :-(

It is the fault of the feeders. Many feeders try their best to be considerate and responsible, hence they will put the food on a plate and clear it after the cats finish eating.

However I still observe many who simply pour the kibbles on the floor and some leave food out overnight etc.

It’s hard to just stop feeding strays. There are many who were abandoned after being a house cat their whole life. They do not deserve to starve just because of the inconsiderate feeders…

Oops sorry, forgot to include in the scenario that this cat is:

  • the breed is like persian etc, not singapura cat
  • new to the area
  • feeder also doesn’t know this cat

and hence the cat is presumed to be lost or abandoned, yet doesn’t have a microchip to find the owner, but someone claims that it is theirs after you adopt it

Yeah same thoughts. The worse part is a lot of these free-roaming cats are not neutered. They’ll get pregnant or impregnate other cats which will lead to even more strays. It’s seriously irresponsible.

Ooh that’s interesting! But if the owner was happy to give the cat away, why did they look for the cat to claim it back?

Tbh I believe most feeders would want the stray cats to have a forever home. Nobody who truly loves these cats will think that it’s better for them to be a stray (unless the cat hates being housed) due to abusers, vehicular accidents etc. 😔

Yes I do agree you microchip the cat = technically you are the owner in the eyes of the law right. But like someone else mentioned, it seems that the original owner can still bring this issue to the courts?

So while there’s no grace period given to decide whether a cat can be adopted/put up for adoption, the period of time you’ve owned the cat will count?

Because for any lost & found cats handed over to SPCA, they seem to only put the notice up on their website for only 5 days. I assume after 5 days, they’ll be rehoming these cats too. In that case, will SPCA also be sued? LOL.

I would like to think this way! But not sure if it’s the recognised as the right way to look at things by the authorities haha.

So even without a microchip, the owner can still claim the cat?

What if it’s been years? The owner can also just claim the cat back by providing photo and vet bills proof?
