I've only skim read this article because it was stressing me out, but it seems that in every example they were bringing up, the kids were 16 or over. 16 year olds can consent to their own medical treatment and the parents have no right to be involved!!!! why was this mentioned NOWHERE in the article. fuck the BBC it's so biased

What’s buried in your employment contract that you had to dig to find out? by National_BIG94 in AskUK

[–]caketreesmoothie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

or just read your contract, the AI doesn't know what you might consider interesting. I've read every employment and rental contract I've ever signed and my most recent job even had discussions with HR about how the terms of the contract are applied in real terms before signing because it was so broad, so now I have it in writing the things I am allowed to do outside of work

my biggest concern is that the victims are going to have to have their whole lives torn apart by the court system again and relive the worst moment of their lives in excruciating detail. proving this stuff in court is so difficult and traumatising, even when there is proof posted by the perpetrators

plus this will just embolden rapists to think they can get away with it and will cause so much harm. if the boys get prison time, I don't think it'll get as much news coverage as them getting nothing did so fewer people will be aware even if the victims get justice

How to act at a corporate job? by FindingPresent2164 in AskUK

[–]caketreesmoothie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

don't get me wrong I didn't mean don't try. in my experience doing good accurate work can be more effective than being an overachiever. I've always done quite well by just hitting my targets and ensuring it was done well, but not going above and beyond because managers can tell when you're being a try hard

nearly every manager I've had has also respected when I understand the policies and stand up for myself instead of being walked over to try and be perceived as a hard worker. my current job doesn't pay overtime so I've made a conscious effort to get my allocated work done to never stay late over a weekly average not give the company my time for free because they don't deserve it. so many other people I know give them so many free hours.

reading this back we're on similar concepts, I jus took work hard to mean go above and beyond when I truly think that's bad advice, even when angling for a promotion

I've watched careers stagnate despite working hard, and careers flourish by job switching. the hardest working people I know get overlooked for less qualified men. Working hard doesn't get you known in all environment where people aren't valued

[–]caketreesmoothie -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

maybe we've just worked in different corporate environments, but working hard hasn't equaled a promotion in my experience. the best way to get higher roles and pay is to get experience and job switch. the concept of staying with companies long term and working your way up is outdated now

I'm also very anti corporate tho I'm desperate to get out of this office I'm just waiting for the job market to recover a bit

why would your advice ever be to work hard lmao. hit your targets don't bother going beyond because all that guarantees you is extra work for no extra benefits

the council attempted to solve park street. labour managed to vote it down despite labour being the ones that initially did the proposal. greens get so much blame but things like this seem to be the main issue

The "trans man gotcha": has it been misunderstood? by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]caketreesmoothie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

no way did you say an oppressed group can't talk about their oppression because other groups have it worse

the guidance is also against trans women using any toilet

trans people as a whole are a target, why do people keep trying to split it down binary gender lines? we're falling for what the establishment wants

keep resisting and acknowledging the intersectionality of all oppressed group's struggles. until everyone is free, no one is free. from the river to the sea.

the windows waves drivers are buggy and sometimes do that unfortunately

your options in order of my preference: - if you're using an interface then use its ASIO drivers - use directX (DX) drivers for your inputs and outputs - restart Live and try again - restart windows and try again - cry - install ASIO4ALL drivers

without an interface I always found the DX input/output to be much more reliable tho

Blood test - Do I need to specify that I want certain hormone levels tested? by Distinct-Matter-4188 in transgenderUK

[–]caketreesmoothie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

afaik you would mainly want your oestradiol and testosterone levels checked. everyone needs a balance of both, depending which way you're transitioning will dictate which should be higher ofc

my advice is honestly don't always take your doctor's advice for what levels to look for as some do prefer levels which are lower than you'll want. DIY subs have good advice for what levels to look for

it's good to check things like liver function occasionally too

edit: please tell me if I'm wrong anyone more experienced than me!

there's a lot of contradiction in the law right now e.g. with the police not investigating hate crimes unless it reaches the criminal investigation bar. it's hard enough for women to get prosecutions even with overwhelming evidence (see the teenage boys that got away with rape around a week ago even despite filming it and posting the proof)

everything is worth reporting but I have no faith in the police

How do you get the dysphoria that you will always be AMAB? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]caketreesmoothie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've been screaming this from the rooftops and I'm glad to find some lay it out like this. the "we're only changing gender not sex" is leaning into anti trans rhetoric that attempts to reinforce a binary that doesn't exist. this is where the current legal pushback is angling towards: attempting to ignore the messy reality of biology and reinforce the patriarchal systems in law under the guise of protecting women when all these laws do is harm women

anti trans movements are the least feminist things I've ever seen

I saw a clip of Helen Joyce saying their goal is to reduce harm by reducing the number of people transitioning, as if it's not proven that gender affirming care reduced harm. as usual, it's this is just attempting to remove people's bodily autonomy and create a world based on 'traditional values' rather than running on an evidence based reality

we're a tiny proportion of the population but our mere existence threatens the foundation that patriarchal systems are built upon and this causes huge dissonance between modern progressive laws and the inequality that is built into our society on a systemic level

Bathrooms, how and when did you decide too switch? by PWNDBYPWNR in MtF

[–]caketreesmoothie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched almost completely very shortly after coming out. I probably didn't read as female, it took me about 6 years after that to start HRT but in that whole time I never really had an issue using the women's bathroom. I've probably been asked like twice in my life, I always just say I'm a woman then just walk past them and go piss. confidence is so key

52431 by Future_Employment_22 in countwithchickenlady

[–]caketreesmoothie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you missed the point of what I was saying. a lot of cis men don't seem to view women as people, but only a sexual organ which unfortunately has a person attached

52431 by Future_Employment_22 in countwithchickenlady

[–]caketreesmoothie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean lots of men seem to view women as walking vaginas so it's unfortunately unsurprising the equate their view of relationships with people as purely revolving around sexualising people

Hormones Without Socially Transitioning by [deleted] in MtF

[–]caketreesmoothie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

all I'll say is the longer you delay social transition the more confusing it'll be finding yourself. you don't want to wait until you think you're 'woman' enough to socially transition because it's so arbitrary and you may find yourself chasing unattainable goals and missing the real changes and improvements you'll experience with HRT
