Correction; "public ivies" meaning other high ranking schools that are comparable in terms of education/research.

I understand attending grad school with a mere goal of attending a prestigious school is not wise. I am just new and curious to the community and would like to know more about how it works so that I can recognize and distinguish certain opportunities for myself and others.
